I am a faithful Magnificat subscriber, but sometimes I feel I don’t get as much out of it as I should. I’ve been pondering The Word Among Us with Mass Suppliment. Has anyone used this and Magnificat that can give a comparison? Are there any other dailuy devotional magazines out there that provide full text of the mass readings?

I recommend it highly although I still love Magnificat for travelling, and it is the single best resource for someone who wants to begin a practice of morning and evening prayer, with reflection on the Mass readings, and have a good missalette besides.

but since I started using the LOTH I just need the Mass readings and the daily reflection in an easy-to-carry and read format. both of these books are that, Word Among Us (wordamongus.org) is a bit larger type, and I am so pleased they give the option of ordering with or without the daily Mass readings and order of the Mass supplement. got this for MIL and she loves it, single best gift she has ever received, she tells me. time to renew, by the way, note to self. it is also a bit less expensive than Mag.

I want to remind those here about MagnifiKids a great publication from Magnificat, which is a Catholic missalette for children, we give it to all our grandkids (one subscription per family we are not made of money) and parents in CCD can order it much more cheaply through bulk order with the parish.

WAU also offers excellent short bible studies for individual or small group use, a great way to start the bible study habit. they also have specials on “praying with the saints” and other devotional books.

That settles it. WAMU it is. I LOVE my Magnificat, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes I wish it were more down to earth and informal with its devotional reading.

I have used Living With Christ for the past couple of years so that I can have the readings for daily Mass. livingwithchrist.us/ It offers the readings for each day, as well as some commentary, quotes from the saints, and a smattering of additional prayers. I have no complaints, though I’ve thought of “upgrading” to the Magnificat.

I have a question about Living with Christ and the Word Among Us Mass readings, as I mostly use the Magnificat for Mass readings but I have one small peeve with it.

During Ordinary Time, most of the Mass Opening and Closing prayer are from the Sunday Ordinary time for the week. The Lectionary the Priest uses in Mass has other daily prayers, do either of these books carry those as well?

I really like the Magnificat, but some times, 3-4 times a week they have the same Opening prayer which the Priest doesn’t want that repetition either. I would like to have the other prayers.
