Do you have any specific daily habits that help you spiritually?

I haven’t posted for awhile. I think the liturgy of the hours is a great antidote to fear. I believe priests are required to pray this prayer several hours during the day. Morning prayer or Vespers takes 15 minutes.
God Bless!!!

Prayer. It may seem like an obvious one, but I feel so much better when I say my prayers with the sunrise, or as soon as I can. It orients my day and gets it on the right track. My best friend and I also say a prayer from Saint Francis when we pass by any Catholic church, the one he gave saying, “We adore thee oh Christ, here and in all thy churches which are in the whole world, and we bless thee because by thy holy cross thou hast redeemed the world.” In addition, we say a Hail Mary whenever we pass a graveyard, for the repose of the souls of the dead, especially those in Purgatory. We also say a silent prayer when we pass roadside memorials. Every time we pray, we orient ourselves towards God. I strive to live prayerfully in everything I do, and having set times I say certain prayers helps me to achieve that state of being.

A daily holy hours makes it impossible for me to not pray. Also, It is certain to keep me from going of the rails by an hour spent in adoration. In other words, without one, who knows what kind of trouble I might get myself into.

Everything listed so far seem to be good ways to be a better practicing Catholic . . . not sure about the spirituality aspect though.
Why do you see the two things as different?
I don’t go around “practicing my Catholicism” so I can show off what a skilled Catholic I am.
I do it to build my relationship with God and become more spiritual.
I use Catholic practice, such as Catholic prayers, as my vehicle for doing this because I’m a Catholic and it’s natural for me to say a Catholic prayer like a rosary as opposed to praying from some other religious tradition.

Catholic practice is not some empty exercise.

Looking into my dog’s eyes in awe of God’s creation. Is this a glimpse of God’s love?

A good length of time for daily prayer ending in journaling and the Ignatian Examen have helped me most spiritually. Next to that I would add daily mortification (cold showers, sleeping on the floor, fasting from a meal or certain foods like desserts or potatoes) and the Rosary.

Just like God your dog knows you but still Loves you with great affection.

Interesting to see other peoples’ habits. I listen to many of Bishop Barrons Word on Fire youtube clips. Just started with Fr larry Richards.

We have lots of ways. To be Fed by the Lord. Thanks be to God for this forum of sharing followers.

One habit that’s easy to develop, and amazing in its effectiveness:

Periodically, throughout the day, just say…
“Jesus, I place my trust in You”.

That is so true. Dogs surely prove God loves us. What a gift they are.

A local church recently posted on their roadside billboard. “Dear God, please help me to become the wonderful person my dog thinks I already am”.

Check out Fr. John Riccardo’s podcast “Christ is the Answer” on Ave Maria Radio’s website if you like those guys.
