I start every day with praying the St. Michael prayer for all the people serving in the military, law enforcement, and other first responders while putting on my St. Michael necklace. Next is 3 Hail Marys. One for God the Father, one for God the Son, and one for the Holy Spirit. After those three, I saw an Our Father and Hail Mary for the clergy. Next is a Hail Mary for my wife. Next an Our Father for my wife to see the truth, beauty, and fullness of the Church. Next is a Hail Mary for all my friends and family. Next is a St. Michael prayer for my friends and family that serve. Next is an Our Father for which ever friend or family member that “needs” a separate prayer. Then I finish it with a Glory Be and one more Our Father.

I also pray the St. Michael Chaplet daily and my rosary frequently (working towards daily).

God Bless

I am very cautious of listening to Catholic media, particularly, Catholic radio during the day. I find it to be overtly political–sort of like Rush Limbaugh with rosary beads. I am not sure the anger-based commentary espoused by the daily commentators is conducive to spiritual growth. The outrage sometimes expressed on these shows can certainly make us feel comfortably superior to what may be happening in our society, but it seems unproductive to strengthening a personal connection to God.
Try WAOB “We Are One Body” radio. It’s mercifully free of all that. Almost every commentator on there is clergy and they often re-air talks from the Pope (various Popes) and homilies and presentations from various Cardinals and Bishops. Whether or not I agree with the lay commentary you mention, I also do not find any of that stuff productive for my day. The words of wisdom from Popes, bishops, and Cardinals on the other hand often give me wonderful new insights.
