Our Daily Mass is 20 minutes long and includes a short but wonderful homily. It is early in the morning but I can still only attend twice a week if I am lucky.
What is the difference between the Sunday Mass and the Daily Mass? I thought they are all the same with the exception being it takes place on a weekday. Sorry for this noob question, I reverted back to my Catholic Faith. So you mean Daily Mass is not 1 hour unlike Sunday Mass? How long are the daily Masses you attend? What do you think of the length?
A Sunday Mass usually is longer and more elaborate. In the ideal, more precious vestments would be used, not having music at least at the principal Sunday Mass is unthinkable, the vessels (chalice, paten, etc) would be more precious, more altar boys as needed. So just more “stuff” all around. What is the difference between the Sunday Mass and the Daily Mass? I thought they are all the same with the exception being it takes place on a weekday. Several things naturally make week day Masses shorter - fewer readings, no recitation of the creed or gloria, and no music. Also, the gifts are usually not processed up and there is no collection. The homily is also not required, so it may be omitted or be shorter than a normal Sunday homily. What is the difference between the Sunday Mass and the Daily Mass? You can also try www.masstimes.org. You can put in your zip code and it finds all of the Catholic Churches within the area.Yesterday I was on the archdiocese website searching for an evening Mass but I just couldn’t find one within a reasonable distance. So I was so excited to go this morning.I’ve tried a few different masses during the week (at different churches) depending on the time of day and my schedule.
Thanks for the website! I know the Lord is working on me because I never wanted to go to church so much in my life! And to be finally able to partake in communion. . .it’s everything. You can also try www.masstimes.org. You can put in your zip code and it finds all of the Catholic Churches within the area.
I started going to daily Mass as much as possible the last couple months myself. It’s been such a blessing!
God bless,

Welcome to the Church! Sounds like it was a Communion Service, that possibly could’ve been celebrated by a Nun. These services can be used in place of a Daily Mass. My Parish has Daily Mass 4 times a week in the morning and on Thursday, I assume to give my Priest the day off, a Communion Service takes place instead of Daily Mass.I went to mass at a hospital chapel before heading to work and it was 10 minuets! There wasn’t a priest but a woman (who I assume is a lay minister) who officiated (is that the right word?). She read the gospel and administered the host (which must have been already consecrated). It was different.

Yes it was, anyone can do a Communion Service. Notice that Mass isn’t celebrated on Good Friday, it’s similar to a Communion Service, just longer because the host for Good Friday was consecrated on Holy Thursday. She wasn’t a nun, but was a hospital employeeSo it was a communion service even though we did the readings, sign of peace, etc? I still prefer the full on mass, but this is a great option for me en route to work, especially since I feel like receiving communion as often as possible is good for me.
A homily is not required at daily Mass. However when I used to go to St Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal for the 7 am Mass, sometimes the rector would preside. He would give 2 or three sentence homily that was so incisive, it woe stick with you all day.I go to two different parishes for daily Mass, depending on my schedule. My home parish has a 30 minute morning Mass. Another church, on my way to my office, has a very reverent 40-45 minute Mass. Although I end up getting to the office 20-30 minutes later than I would otherwise, it is worth it!
There is also a nearby church that has a 20 minute morning Mass, but I find it hard to concentrate and focus as it is done very quickly with a 30 second homily. I don’t attend there anymore because it almost defeats the purpose and if I’m a minute or two late, they’re done with the readings already.
In any case, I’ve been finding daily Mass to be such a blessing.
God bless,
Bryan
