Though it has been a few years, I have been to many weekday Masses that went from the gospel directy to the offertory.

I think the original poster was wondering if she had fulfilled her obligation by attending mass but since the homily was not included she must have felt that she had not fulfilled her Sunday or daily mass attendance.
Sometimes I feel that way too because sometimes my mind wanders off or I fall into a light sleep during mass. But at the same time I feel that because I made the effort to be there… it counts. Sometimes I don’t feel good healthwise so I try my best to pay attention during mass. I do attend a Bible class to learn more and I also read Catholic books to teach me more about God.

Maybe a good answer/question to this is: “What would Jesus think of this?” I think He would be compassionate and understanding. How grateful I am that this priest continues to celebrate the Mass with all the problems he is experiencing. God bless him. (I am sure He does!)

VJ, I totally agree with you. Jesus does pay attention when priests do their best even when they are ill or don’t feel good… but they still do their duties.
I also think that Jesus also pays attention to us too when we try so hard to attend mass when we don’t feel well but we still drag ourselves to church. I am a sickly senior and sometimes I feel really bad but I still go to mass. I also record the Sunday Mass on my T.V. too in case I am too ill to attend mass. But I prefer to attend mass.
Jesus knows I am trying my best. That makes me feel good.
