Although most of the daily Masses I have attended over the years have had a homily (a short one), it is quite permissible that there not be one. It is not required at daily Masses.I sometimes go to daily Mass at the parish in town here in Manama, Bahrain (as opposed to on base). At first I was impressed with how many people attend weekday Mass. But then, after the Gospel reading, the priest went immediately into the Eucharistic prayers. No homily. Has anyone else ever been to a Mass like this? Is that even allowed? Curious.

My parish priests rarely give a homily during daily Mass. I have also been to daily TLM, and there was no sermon at those Masses either.Happens all the time. Yes, it is allowed.
Hey Deb, I visited the Trappist Monastery in Conyers Ga, a few years ago. Do they still grow and sell bonsai trees?At the Trappist monastery in Conyers, a few words may be spoken after the gospel. Most of the time, the gospel is allowed to simply speak for itself.
