Daily Mass

I’ve just graduated from college and I love my summer vacation I was so busy this past months, but now I’m looking forward to spending more time with Jesus in prayer, because I’m also discerning a religious vocation. I’ve thought about starting to go to daily Mass, but here is my problem: I’m very ashamed of what others might think about my choice, especially my parents. It’s ridiculous, because they are faithful Catholics, but I’m sure they would say: why would you want to do this? I’ve always been very private about my faith and I don’t like others to see me praying, going to Mass by my own, etc. I don’t understand why I feel like this, but it’s hard to change. I guess I need some encouragement, it would be so sad not to go to Mass because someone might smile or make a comment about it…

Well, why would you want to do this? Answer that question honestly, and you’ll have nothing to fear.

As a daily Mass attender myself, I’m always happy to see other people take up the practice so you’ll get nothing but encouragement from me. Go to Mass. It sounds like you feel called to it. If people snigger because you attend Mass during the week, that’s their problem and not yours! Besides, you don’t know who you will meet at daily Mass. My fellow daily Mass attendees support me in this endeavor, as I do them. They have become like family for me.

You say your parents are faithful Catholics, so give them the benefit of the doubt. Who knows? Your daily Mass attendance may inspire them to follow suit.

You can do this! I’ll be praying for you in your discernment. :yup:

Julie, I remember how I felt many years ago when I was in transition from only attending Sunday Mass to attend Mass both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. I was afraid people would think I was crazy. I felt a little awkward at first. But I did it anyway. Just after a few weeks I felt very easy and comfortable. Then I started to go to daily Mass, receive the Holy Eucharist everyday!

Go to Mass whenever you can. God will give you the grace to help you feel at home. Mass is heaven on earth. There is nothing better than receiving our Lord daily. God bless!

Many years ago after my husband passed away and my children were all far away at College, I made a one-day retreat at a local retreat center – Vallombrosa. The topic was “The Eucharist” and it was given by Ronald Rolheiser, O.M.I. He was so profound and inspiring that I decided I would go to Mass every day so that I could receive the Eucharist and have Jesus with me always. I did it for many years, but can do it no longer because I no longer have a car. I do go when I can and truly thank God when I am able to receive the Eucharist.

Romans 1:

Slip off to Mass without making a big deal of it. If anyone asks where you were, just say matter of factly that you went to Mass today. That’s what I do. Occasionally I run into someone I know. They understand.

You are blessed. I feel the Holy Spirit is present in your life. Follow your heart. And let God’s grace flow unto you.

Hi there, I’m a daily Mass goer myself for several years now.

Just to share my experience. Very few people know that I go to daily Mass. I don’t tell it to people who don’t understand/I think don’t understand or might ridicule me, including my parents. The lm notast thing I need is discouragement. I need supportive people.

The times I don’t get to attend Mass is when I’m away on travel, or very sick, or having a very busy day etc. Otherwise it’s been Mass everyday, and I love it.

Good for you for wanting to go daily. prayers going your way.

Thank you for your kind words and your prayers! Today was the first day of going to daily Mass and my parents were actually supportive I hope to stick to my resolution, because receiving the Eucharist every day is like heaven on earth.
