If anyone would like to share their own thoughts, comments etc. please do go ahead and post in any and all of these daily meditations threads…
Today I am including the links to meditations from two different sites. The first site is “Word Among Us” and the other site is a meditation from Fr. Bucko SJ - Creighton Jesuit University…they are two really insightful mediations on todays readings and neither meditation is lengthy - three paragraphs each at the very most.
What really struck me from today’s readings is from the First Reading: “Now I, in turn, give him to the LORD;
as long as he lives, he shall be dedicated to the LORD.”
**She left Samuel there.” **It was a huge wake up call and reminder to me that having given myself to The Lord in all things, then I need to leave myself Peacefully and Joyously there and remember that no matter what happens it is The Lord - I need to : “Leave Samual there”.
The first meditation from Word Among Us is a beautiful and very insightful reflection on Our Lady … the thought I drew from this is that God is indeed wiping away every tear in every circumstance, for even when life has brought difficulty and sorrow, trial, things could have been far worse and hence God spared me from that and thus wiped away potential tears had things been far worse! God in fact is continually protecting me … for life indeed could be far far worse and then some than it actually may be at times. I pray that in times of difficulty I will call to mind always those who indeed are suffering far far worse…
The meditation from Father Bucko, SJ, is an example in humility and in a false humility…and Father delivers the lesson with a smile in the first paragraph. And who I was smiling at was myself whom I saw in the three people prostrate before the altar…advertising their ‘humility’.

December 17 marks the beginning of the "O" Antiphons, the seven jewels of our liturgy, dating back to the fourth century, one for each day until Christmas Eve. These antiphons address Christ with seven magnificent Messianic titles, based on the Old Testament prophecies and types of Christ. The Church recalls the variety of the ills of man before the coming of the Redeemer.
Before the coming of God in the flesh, we were ignorant, subject to eternal punishment, slaves of the Devil, shackled with our sinful habits, lost in darkness, exiled from our true country. Hence the ancient antiphons announce Jesus in turn as our Teacher, our Redeemer, our Liberator, our Guide, our Enlightener and our Saviour. —The Golden Legend of Jacobus de Voragine, trans.
