Hello. I am new to the Catholic Church, being received this past Easter Vigil. I have been enjoying the daily mass, however find myself lost at times. I was hoping to get a Daily Missal, however, was overwhelmed by the various versions (Roman, St. Paul and St. Joseph). Can someone please make a recommendation and possibly explain the differences? Thank you in advance for your time and comments… God Bless!🙂

I own the Daily Roman Missal which covers all days and holy days of the year for all three years of sundays and the two years of weekdays, meaning you will never need another missal. I do enjoy this missal but what I recommend due to the extra content is the Magnificat it is a yearly subscripition which has the dailey mass and sunday mass but also has morning and evening prayer, along with meditations, saints, etc. I hope this helps. The Daily Roman Missal runs about $75 the Magnificat is $45 a year.

Thank you. I was looking at the Roman Missal because it was all in one. I had received a Sunday Missal as a gift a few weeks ago when I was received into the Church…

I use a daily missal published by James Socias for the Midwest Theological Forum.

It includes all Sunday Masses for the 3 year cycle, plus daily Masses. It has the Propers for the Saints. Common of Martyrs, Masses for the Dead, Optional readings are also included, plus Votive Masses, Common for Pastors, Common for Doctors of the Church, and on and on.

It also includes common prayers, not so common prayers, an examination of conscience, and various devotions.

I cannot imagine that I will ever read every page.

It has 6 ribbons to help you find your way through the Mass. I suggest you place the ribbons, but don’t get too upset if you have placed them wrong. It took me attending Mass a couple of times with the missal, to be able to figure out the ribbon placement. But it works now.

Maybe someone else can tell you about their missal, because I can’t compare mine to another.

Thank you also maryjk. I will need to check that one out also…

I have this also, but just a word of caution: it is a bit fragile due to the width of the spine. Mine fell off an end table in my living room and cracked the binding.

Love the missal, just wish it were a little more sturdy.

I use the iMissal app on my phone. I was worried that people would think I was playing games at first, but it’s inexpensive and very convenient.
