Exciting!
The problem though is that an Office with proper antiphons is tough… the antiphons for tonight get chanted once a year unlike the antiphons for ordinary days that get chanted weekly. So you never get that good at them except for the rare ones that use a common melody for different texts.

WOW,

I admire the dedication. As one who is new to the Catholic faith, I consider prayer as conversations with God and so I try not to schedule those, unless I know I will be busy, as He is never too busy for me. As soon as I hear something that awakens me, before my eyes fly open, I say a prayer of thanks. If I fall back asleep, I say another and then try to physically get out of the bed. For the most part, I’ve been saying prayers of gratitude, insight, guidance, God’s Will and anything else I need as a tool to make at work and in this world - not of it. Once in my office and at my desk, I say a prayer and then I’m pretty much chatting/praying all day. Humans will test you , so I’m literally praying all day 👍 . I try to pray the Rosary every day/night, mostly I try to get it in during the day because life can get hectic.

As one responder wrote, I’ve seen what a routine can do for me and praying/talking to God is not something I think I want to tire of :tsktsk:, so my routine isn’t and my prayer “schedule” is always open because as long as I have breath, I’m always free to pray/talk with God because He is worthy of all my time, not just what I schedule:bowdown:

6- Rise and Lauds
745: (when i usually get to school) Prime and Terce
1130: Rosary
1155: Sext
1205: Mass (wish i could go in the morning but my schedule doesn’t allow it 🤷)
300( or whenever i get home from school): None
430: Mediation from the Divine Intimacy
530: Vespers
700: Holy Face Chaplet (if i didnt say it before mass) and novenas devotions etc.
730: Compline
800: night thanksgivingsh prayers lol
830:Matins
Maybe some spiritual reading before bed

My life pretty much revolves around the Divine Office 😃 but i like it that way.

But I am concerned that those who pray by set prayers alone, forget to try and listen and will not be able to respond to Gods love in prayer because they do not experience free spirit. I don’t know and may well be very wrong in my assumption because that is all it is . . . I like prayer to be free and whilst Nuns may get plenty of free time prayer? Their whole day is around services that are set before them and don’t get to experience any of the ‘fun’ we non Holy Order people have . . . I have a certain amount of feeling for the ordained who have to say morning and evening prayer every day. That becomes just a matter to be got through? Even if they are being genuine enough it is a matter to be got through.
Rhiannonh, I’m so sorry that you so deeply misunderstand the divine office and other “set prayers.” You obviously have no idea of the richness of a prayer life based on liturgy and vocal prayer, it’s exactly the opposite of what you claim here. Yes, you are very very wrong in your assumption.
