Daily Prayer for January 2, 2011 - The Epiphany of the Lord
Father, just as You revealed Your Son to the world by the guidance of a star, we ask You to lead us by the light of faith. Keep this light ever-burning within our hearts, helping us to always see the true path to Your heavenly Kingdom. Amen.
Heavenly Father, as the new year begins, I look forward to the new experiences that lie before me. Be by my side as I wake each morning, and watch over my family and friends. Help me to keep You always in my heart as I make daily decisions, go about my typical schedule and interact with those around me. Thank You for blessing me with each new day. Amen.

Daily Prayer for January 5, 2011-Saint John Neumann
Saint John Neumann, you knew your calling to the priesthood was genuine and you stopped at nothing to be ordained. I pray through your intercession that I might also be confident in my passion for the Lord.
You walked with the poor, visited with the sick and preached to anyone who crossed your path. I pray that I, too, follow your example of putting others’ needs before my own.
You were a founder of the Catholic school system in the United States. I pray that you watch over our Catholic schools today so that the children who attend them can gain a solid foundation in their love for the Lord. Amen.
I give thanks today, Lord, for the abundant blessings in my life. My family, my home, my job…all I have is because of You. When times are tough, I pray that You help me to never lose sight of Your unending kindness. Amen.
Heavenly Father, the celebration of the birth of Your Son gives new hope to the nations. During this holy time and in the year to come, keep the Christmas spirit alive in our hearts. Help us to be ever-joyful and aware of Your love. Amen.
Father in heaven, watch over those who struggle with addiction. Whether they gamble constantly or find themselves unable to stop eating, smoking or drinking, guide the addicted into Your healing and forgiving arms. Daily Prayer for January 9, 2011 - The Baptism of the Lord
Almighty, eternal God, when the Spirit descended upon Jesus at His baptism in the Jordan You revealed Him as Your own beloved Son. Keep us, Your children born of water and the Spirit, faithful to our calling. Amen.
God our Father, we pray for the intercession of Mary, trusting that she is anxious to hear our prayers. May we find comfort in her loving ways, easing our worries and anxieties and leaving us with peaceful and content hearts. Amen.
Help me to share Your Word, O Lord, through my everyday actions. Whether I discipline a child, share ideas with co-workers or converse with a stranger, help me to remember that my words and actions can leave a lasting impression. I pray that every encounter I make is beneficial and meaningful. Amen.
Lord, You have taught us that it is right to love one another, treating our neighbors as we would like to be treated. Help me to remember this principle in the midst of my busy life. Help me to see eye-to-eye with friends and family and keep my patience at times when I feel stressed. Amen.
Lord God, it is with Your patient guidance that I have made it to where I am today. Although my goals and plans don’t always turn out the way I expect or plan, I know that You are always by my side, encouraging me to continue on my life’s path. It is so hard, Lord, to watch loved ones suffer. Whether it be a common cold or a life-threatening disease, their pain sometimes leaves me with doubts about Your love for us. Help me to remember that everything You do is for a reason, and to trust in You always. Amen.

Lord, You send messengers to us who preach the Gospel in compelling ways. Today we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., one of Your faithful servants, who taught the people of the world to respect each other through his gentleness and patience. Help us to continue to carry out his message through our actions. Amen.
I pray today, Lord, for the children of the world who have no family to call their own. Open the hearts of those capable of caring for these children so that they are given every opportunity to succeed in life. May they find a home in You, seeking out Your comfort in times of need. Amen.
I am grateful, Lord, that the economy is beginning to strengthen. But there is still so much to be done. I pray for those who are unemployed and struggling, that they can find the strength to continue searching for meaningful work. Watch over their families and touch them with Your unending love. Amen.
Heavenly Father, when I find myself complaining about my bills, help me to be grateful that I have a home I can pay for. When I am distraught about my weight, help me give thanks for having enough to eat. When I complain about the cold January weather, let me be thankful that I have a coat and gloves to wear. Help me also to remember to share the blessings I have been given with those who find themselves in need. Amen.
