I need to get a jumpstart on my prayer life and I am looking for some good resources that will help me get there. Does anyone read a daily missal? And if so, what are some good books to get?

The Daily Roman Missal from Midwest Theological Forum is excellent. Not only does it have all the prayers and readings for every Mass of the year, it also has a lot of good devotional prayers in the back, and some good spiritual writing on how to build your prayer life. It’s pricey, but it’s well made and the content is more than worth it.

I own two of them, a small one I use for reference when I’m preparing homilies, and a large print one I use as a travel missal.

I would be saying the same as Father has, but my recommendation wouldn’t have been as thorough or well-stated. I can’t imagine a single-volume Missal for personal use that would be better “bang for the buck”.

I get the monthly Magnnificat, it is my daily prayer booklet but it has much more.
Also you might want to check out an App called Laudate…

This year I am switching to Give Us This Day instead of the Magnificat, just to keep things fresh…they are both daily devotionals. It is also a little more “Benedictine” if you will which is interesting for me personally.
