I am new to the Catholic religion and I would like to get a book that has daily scripture readings and well, I guess it would be called a devotion book but I’m not sure…I’m not even sure where to look for something like that.

I am reading the Beliving in Jesus book I got from my RCIA class and I’ve almost finished it…I’ve only had it for a few weeks!! I love to read! And I couldn’t put it down…I learned so much from what I have read so far!! 🙂

Does anyone have any suggestions for something that I could read everyday that would help my relationship with God?

The book you’re looking for is called the Daily Missal. You can find them in Catholic bookstores and sometimes in other bookstores.

Also the US Bishops’ site has the daily Scripture readings as well. :yup:

EWTN - Click on Faith - Devotions - Daily Mass Readings

A calendar opens, click on the date you want.

Catholic Culture also has a daily calendar for the liturgical year (you can read about the various Saints that are bening remembered in the Mass for that day).

The Word Among Us lists the daily readings, with a meditation on the readings. you can by a companion volume, Abide in the Word, which actually prints the readings, and a prayer journal.

One Bread One body from presentationministries.com is another nice devotional, lists the readings, meditation, prayer and point to ponder

St. Joseph Sunday and Daily missal have the actual readings and order of the mass, in paperback for a reasonable price, most Catholic bookstores, these are the ones for each year, not the hardbound “perpetual” ones.

Magnificat magazine has the Mass readings, morning and evening prayer, saints, and reading for each day, plus devotional articles and order of the Mass, pricy but very worth it.

It may be worth your while getting the perpetual ones though. Since the readings go on cycles of 2 years for daily Mass readings and 3 years for Sunday readings, after which they repeat themselves, they will more than pay for themselves.
