Daily Readings

I am new to the Catholic religion and I would like to get a book that has daily scripture readings and well, I guess it would be called a devotion book but I’m not sure…I’m not even sure where to look for something like that.

I am reading the Beliving in Jesus book I got from my RCIA class and I’ve almost finished it…I’ve only had it for a few weeks!! I love to read! And I couldn’t put it down…I learned so much from what I have read so far!!

Does anyone have any suggestions for something that I could read everyday that would help my relationship with God?

I subscribe (free) to the daily mass readings and reflections from Good News Ministries. They have a link to the daily mass readings, along with very well thought out and well written daily reflections. I have never failed to “get” something out of the reflections, either.

My family and I start the day of with the Magnificat.

Also I have the Liturgy of the hours. I really recommend this. Since I have started Home schooling I have a hard time keeping up so I decided to switch to the Magnificat, it works great as beginning to school. The kids love it.

I highly recommend the Magnificat magazine also. It is a jewel!

It is a monthly magazine (I love the small size and beautiful prints) with a monthly theme/reflection, blessings for the table, morning and evening prayer, and the daily mass readings, saint bios and reflexions on the readings by saints, fathers of the church etc… It also has the order of the Mass and adoration guide and at the end they review a religious painting.

Some may consider it an expensive subscription, but for me its worth it!

I also saw that the Magnificant will send a free sample copy.

I’m sure it is beautiful, but I think this spend thrift will stick with the freebies on the internet.
