I need help deciding which Roman Missal would be the best fit for what I am looking for. I am looking for a missal both for daily study/prayer and a companion to take to mass. The most recommended missals I have heard of have been the Angelus Press missal (although I do have some hesitation due to their affiliation with the SSPX) and the Baronius Press. However with both of these, the readings translation is the Douay Rheims which although I believe is a beautiful translation, I would prefer the NAB or RSV to better follow with mass. The other missals I am considering are the Saint Paul, OSV, and the Midwest Theological. Although I am very open to any and all recommendations. One other large concern of mine is I do not want a missal that is too large which would be uncomfortable to take with me to mass.

Any help is very much appreciated,

Thanks!

I’m not sure if you’re aware of the difference, but:

The hand Missals from Baronius Press, Angelus Press, TAN Books, and Biretta Books are all for the Extraordinary Form of Holy Mass (“Tridentine Latin Mass”). Out of those, I would recommend Biretta Books’. Please keep in mind that Baronius Press is a British company, so their local calendar does not conform to the United States’.

The best hand Missal for the Ordinary Form is Midwest Theological Forum’s, in my opinion, because they also show you the original Latin text in case you have a priest that mixes up English and Latin in the OF (like Vatican II envisioned). The hand Missals from Catholic Book Publishing, Pauline Books & Media, Our Sunday Visitor, etc. are all practically interchangeable in my opinion.
