So, I was putting a disclaimer saying “I understand however, if you are OSAS that this argument does not work for you”
so, is that the disclaimer and not these words:

"And as scripture says and if you don’t believe in OSAS…"

🤷

I think there is no further need of complicating the said verse. It simply means that its bad when good people do nothing. Right? I think everyone knows that regardless of religon.

It is merely an expounded disclaimer on the original words 🙂

In Christ

For me, this is more of a stumbling block to Faith Alone than any other verse…

It says in no uncertain terms that if you do not do what is right (ie works) then you are in sin…

If I continually do not do what is right, i jeopardized my salvation because i place more and more sin on me…

In Christ
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Heisenberg,
This is not a stumbling block to Grace through faith alone, properly understood. Grace through faith is about justification.

I would agree with you, though, that I am jeopardizing my salvation. But not exactly because I’m placing more and more sin on myself, but more because that sin puts more and more space between me and God. I am alienating myself from Him. Eventually, I have rejected my justification, not because I sinned, but because I have rejected faith.

It reminds me of Romans 7:
14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am carnal, sold into slavery to sin. 15 What I do, I do not understand. For I do not do what I want, but I do what I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I concur that the law is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh. The willing is ready at hand, but doing the good is not. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want. 20 Now if (I) do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 21 So, then, I discover the principle that when I want to do right, evil is at hand. 22 For I take delight in the law of God, in my inner self, 23 but I see in my members another principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Miserable one that I am! Who will deliver me from this mortal body? 25 **Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Therefore, I myself, with my mind, serve the law of God but, with my flesh, the law of sin. **
So, knowing I cannot follow His will on my own, I ask for His grace to save me, because I can’t do it with my own works. I ask forgiveness in confession, both public and private. And I partake in the means of grace. My works, which I must try to do my best at, mean nothing without His grace, and the faith his grace gives me.
