DALLAS, Texas, October 27, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Catholic bishop of Dallas has preemptively condemned a lecture by a dissident professor and priest who is scheduled to criticize the U.S. bishops’ unequivocal stance against the killing of unborn children.

You get Charles Curran and Richard McBrien backing him up in the same article. :doh2: Which “church” is this critique coming from? Certainly not the Catholic Church.

In the release, Curran states that, “There should be room in the Catholic Church for different positions on [the abortion] issue.”

No, No, NO! There is all kinds of wrong with this statement!

Not the least of which being that abortion is not an issue of “religious freedom”, it is an issue of life and death!

If some Catholics are allowed to believe that abortion should be allowed as a way to not constrict the consciences of non-Catholics, then the only hope this Humanity under God has of ending the practice of baby-killing is gone!

Priests are dissenting with the Church on abortion now? How can you even possibly dissent? A fetus is a full human being and is innocent. Abortion kills the fetus. Therefore, abortion is the killing of an innocent human being. This is the very definition of the word murder. Murder is forbidden in the 10 Commandments.

This isn’t complicated people. And with the arduous process of becoming a priest (with all the studying and what not), you’d think these priests would know why the Church doesn’t advocate for “different positions on the abortion issue”.

When I was received into the Church in 2005 I had to publicly state that I accept everything the Church proposes for belief. Every time I receive the Eucharist I publicly state that I accept everything the Church proposes for belief.

All of us, clergy included, have free will. Not everyone who is Catholic is in communion with the Church.

If they don’t agree with Catholic teaching, they should leave the Church. On issues such as abortion, I don’t see how a priest could be allowed to remain a priest by opposing the Church.

Well, if we don’t know when the soul is infused, that’s actually a basis to say that at no time is abortion acceptable.

These individuals prefer to remain “within” the Church, like parasites, and feed on Her life-blood. They`re causing scandal; and the word “millstone” comes to mind.

At least the fathers of the “Reformation” had the decency to leave.

They have left the Church.

Dissenters remain Catholic and if validly ordained, remain priests ad aeternum because ontological changes can’t be undone.

Dissenters are free to recant and repent.

Apparently Fr. Curran hasn’t worn clerical garb since the early seventies, nor does care to be addressed as “father” preferring “Charlie” instead.

As previously noted, Fr. Curran is forbidden from teaching at Catholic schools because of his fishy theology.

Just what does a guy have to do to be formally excommunicated these days?

Fr. Curran was one of the original conspirators who sabotaged the issuance of Humanae Vitae in this country. He and he cronies had full page ads opposing it ready to go at major newspapers before the document was even released! The guy can’t even pretend to have made a conscientous and prayeful analysis of the encyclical before he embarked on his actions, so he fails under even his own definition of the primacy of conscience (a flawed one to begin with).

Fr. Curran IMO lies only a slight step above the sexual abusers and their protectors in the listing of clergy who have inflicted the worst wounds on the bride of Christ in my lifetime.
