Sure.So show me the reality. If I am so wrong, prove how right you are.
My own means of scanning threads differs radically from your described method.
That is sufficient to show that your method is not the one used by all of the members.

Wow! Nice dodge of the actual point! Hope you didn’t twist any muscles while you did that.Sure.

How about proving me wrong on the real issue? That all the hyperbole about religious discrimination in the workplace is just that?
Read the same thread you did-all I see is opinions. If my opinion is wrong, and yours is right prove it.While making such demands, you may wish to review the thread to make certain you are not demanding repeat information.
Couldn’t have.Read the same thread you did-all I see is opinions. If my opinion is wrong, and yours is right prove it.
you posted ZERO facts…ZERO. You posted a story about your personal experience that may or may not even be true.Couldn’t have.
I posted fact, not opinion.
Do you believe I am a liar?you posted ZERO facts…ZERO. You posted a story about your personal experience that may or may not even be true.
In ONE case. One case does not a national crisis make.Do you believe I am a liar?
If not, then you must accept the personal experience as the truth.
And personal experience of a job lost would indicate that what you believe to be hyperbole is not.
Do you really believe this case is an isolated incident? In ONE case. One case does not a national crisis make.
I’d already seen that on about 9 other news outlets. One “industry” where there are conservative schools that will happily hire these poor victims. Still no widespread national crisis of religious discrimination in the workplace.Do you really believe this case is an isolated incident?
Did this manager cease the discrimination simply because a faithful Catholic had been sent up the river?
That she somehow decided it was enough and the next Catholic in line got a break?
Oh, and did you miss the newspaper article posted concerning political discrimination?
One point is that we do not know the details in this situation. It may be that this issue had already been addressed and the officer was already on the bubble for comments. The gay employee had every right to complain about not feeling safe in the work place with such epitets being lobbed in his direction…no once did he say anything like “Bible thumping homophobe”…the Baptist woman was reprimanded and instructed to keep her beliefs to herself as they had no place in the workplace…something similar may have occured at the police station…and if it did…the officer who brought in the sandwich AND made comments…IF that WAS indeed what occured…should be disiplined.
We are very open about our faith traditions in our office. I am a Friend…the boss and his significant other are Episcopalians…we have Non-denomns, Baptists, Catholic and even an atheist…as long as discussions are engaged in with respect, there’s no problem…the Baptist woman was making more of a “political” issue by making claims that “I told my son why didn’t he and “Randy” just go down and file for domestic partnerships like “the queers do” and “Randy” can put you on his insurance…it’s not fair that “the queers” get to do it but you don’t.” THAT was not to be tolerated in the work place…One point is that we do not know the details in this situation. It may be that this issue had already been addressed and the officer was already on the bubble for comments.
I have been in the situation of having to address religious zealotry in the workplace and almost had to can someone who continued to cross the line. No one has yet been fired for this, but this is as close as I have seen. This situation was between officer and various prisoners. Therefore, it had an additional wrinkle of being done under color of law.
Among ourselves, we are pretty open about our religious ideas. I am sure it would not fly in most places. I myself am a frequent target having things such as, Lenten fast, Friday fast, drinking, the Inquisition, papal authority, brought up against me. The thing is, I know it is in jest and would never be offended by such things. Yet, we have a procedure I could use if I were offended.
Sexual, racial, religious harassment in the workplace must be addressed. We hear in the news snipets of extreme cases, but most cases are handled easily. Only the most recalcitrant of offenders ever actually receives real punishment or termination.
Sounds as if your just stirring the pot. In a normal work place environment, these “opinions” as to who said what to who, can be ignored or made light of. We’re not talking about accountants or construction workers, these are Law Enforcement Officers who’s lives depend on each other. If for ANY reason these officers can’t depend on each other to cover each other’s back, then action HAS to be taken. These people don’t work with pencils or hammers, they work with guns and are bound to use them to protect the public and their brother officers if called to. I hold the Church’s opinion on same sex relations, but if I were one of these people and the reported comments were even half true, I certainly wouldn’t want to depend on the Sargent to cover my back If they read your “whiners” and “Mom, he is looking at me” comments…you probably wouldn’t want them protecting you either.Whining - “Mom, he is looking at me”.
Meanwhile, that police department has responded in a way which could ultimately become “Usual-and-Customary Practice”, first for THAT department, but possibly for other police departments over time. The matter SHOULD HAVE been (and MAY HAVE been) carefully investigated to ensure the rights of all parties were fully protected.
OK, so we have gone from one instance, to an entire industry.I’d already seen that on about 9 other news outlets. One “industry” where there are conservative schools that will happily hire these poor victims. Still no widespread national crisis of religious discrimination in the workplace.
Try again.
