Dan Brown's TYhe Lost Symbo Novel

Hi there just bought the novel recently, i am just wondering what is the say of the church on the said novel will the curch somewhat condemn the content since i dont find anything wrong just be strong to your faith isnt it?
 
I’ve read 4 of Dan Brown’s books.

I’m not bothering to buy a 5th. Not for any other reason than that he’s a really REALLY poor writer. Highly unoriginal. Each book is, essentially, the same plot. By the time I got to the third book I could work out who the ‘baddie’ was about 10 pages in. He follows the same darn formula each time. It gets boring quickly.

As for the Church… well I gather they were unhappy with the Davinci Code, but less bothered by Angels and Demons. Digital Fortress and Deception Point (AWFUL books) weren’t religion related at all.

From my own point of view, I wish you’d saved your money!
 
I read that book, and enjoyed it. I slept through the Davinci Code, twice. Then I did a little research on Dan Brown. I dont think that Ill read a book or sleep through one of his movies again.

If you want to read the pitiful drivel, get it from the library so you are not supporting this sad, misguided & evil man who makes millions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$ from spreading lies about our beloved Catholic Faith!

Also avoid his like-able, yet just sadly misinformed friends, Tom Hanks & Opie (Ron Howard), et. al.**

well of course why would i believe on those things as literally said, its a novel i dont believe on novels as novels ar only pure stories of maginary visions etc., i read it for fun but my faith of course stops me from believing those unbelievable stories of his

This would be fine if Dan Brown had not stated that the Divinci Code is based on historical fact.

So while it is a work of fiction he claims that the history protrayed in it is true.
 
As someone living in DC, The Lost Symbol had some amusement value because of the geographical location. Otherwise, it was not worth the read.

Basically you are giving money to someone with a very anti-Catholic agenda. While the book itself may not have anything objectionable, just remember whose pockets you’re lining.

I agree totally with all here! And as far as Tom Hanks & Opie (Ron Howard), I will no longer watch anything the 3 have anything to do with!:mad:

I’m happy to hear that! 🙂

I work at a library though; there were a lot of times I had to say, “It is fiction” and I’d point to the label: Fic Brown.

Don’t think I convinced everybody however. 😦

It is a remarkable sign of the state of our education system in this country that people can read books based entirely on conspiracy theories and believe them to be completely accurate portrayals of history.

I haven’t read the Lost Symbol, nor will I, but all of the “masonic” symbols encoded into the street plan of DC are coincidence of radial spokes being overlayed on top of a grid. Try it out on graph paper. Line out a grid in which each “block” is formed by 2x2, 3x3, or other perfect squares of the printed grid (you don’t want your “blocks” to be too small). Now choose three or four random intersections and draw radials at 45 degree angles from each corner of the intersection. Now, at these major intersections and others, designate certain “monuments.” Now start tracing your stars and the like and you’ll be surprised at how often and consistently they show up, no matter how you draw the map.

The fact that Dan Brown has bought into bogus history and now purports his novels to be “Historical” Fiction is akin to the glassy-eyed scientologist coming into a Barnes and Noble, asking for L. Ron Hubbard’s work, and falling to pieces when you lead him to the science fiction section. (True story)
