umm…ok this is just a brief question but here goes -
my friend is in a mixed uni hiphop group. She was telling me just the other day about some of the steps in the dance. I was quite impressed with most of it - however, she told me that she is expected to do about 5 - 8 secs of grinding which then goes into a clean step. Because she too is a catholic and she knows that grinding is wrong. She told me that her and her partner stand about 20cm away from each other to do the grind step - so that it still looks like it from the front but at the same time she is not properly doing it. She also told me that she tries not to think about it when she does it. I got a little upset at her for not telling the choreographer to cut it out because she wasn’t comfortable with it. but she just let it go. I was wondering - is this still a sin because she isn’t technically freak dancing and its only for a really short period of time for any intentions to come into the boy’s head?? Is this justified at all (i personally dont think so, but im just making sure)??

Not justified at all, she should find another way to express herself. I’d say it is a sin. She knows it is wrong and could lead her to more serious sins or those who watch the dance could be led to sin. If she knows its wrong why does she do it? Its scandolous behaviour.

Example: In the classroom environment, the apperance of sleeping is sleeping.

yups, i thought so…
her comps this tuesday…and thats in a day…
should i just let it go?? - she knows its wrong. (it edges on sacrilege - i think thats the word)
its very frustrating that she is conforming to peer pressure…but yeah…i can’t really do much about that.

I say pray for her to make the right choices, tell her tactfully what the Church teaches on it and let her make the decision, you have done your job especially for a friend.
