Dancer-turned-nun to perform for prelates

ROME, April 4 (UPI) – An Italian lap dancer-turned-nun will perform in front of a group of Roman Catholic cardinals and bishops. Anna Nobili, 38, who gave up years of exotic dancing in Milan after a 2002 visit to the shrine of St. Francis in Assisi, joined an order of nuns called the Sister Workers of the Holy House of Nazareth.

Hmm… when I think more about it, it’s doesn’t sound so bad. I mean, someone correct me if I’m wrong, but haven’t all cultures from the times of the Romans and the Egyptians always been exotic in their own way?

This is terrible. In my humble opinion, I don’t think she should be dancing. From the headline alone, its a well known fact she was an exotic dancer. We have enough temptations in front of us without having an ex-exotic dancer performing for our heirarchy.

Maybe I am too old fashioned in my beliefs, but it would seem her time would be better spent in prayer than in dancing. The secular world will just eat this story up…

😦

All I can say is that Salome, too, danced before King Herod and it got her the head of John the Baptist.

At least she is not dancing during the Mass; however, the church should not be the setting for this kind of activity.

Where did this information come from?
What type of dancing?

From that link, and, from what I can paste together from reading inbetween the lines, a type of interpretive.

If she has this gift, to choreograph the Old and New Testaments through dance, hopefully it will come out. She was an exotic dancer and her life changed. She can still dance, but, now it’s for a different reason. She can use some of what she learned to do this.

Presumably liturgical dancing or something like that. She wants to use her talent for dancing to glorify God now instead of sin.

It is certainly not a style that I personally like or get anything from. However, she is not wearing revealing clothes or doing anything I would consider sexually provocative. If the local Bishop approves then I would think it is not objectionable.

Also, I note that she is apparently in an order which retains the tradition of wearing a habit. That is usually a good sign that they have the right mindset. If she were in some liberal order, I might have more concern.

Um, I found it…provacative. If Sister wants to do this in private, with no one to see her, but the Lord Jesus, that’s fine, but I don’t think she should do it in front of any man on this plane of existance…ever. That’s a near occasion of sin if I ever saw one (and I’m nearly 50, so I’d hate to see what younger men might have to endure watching that).

Um that dance she did was extremely tacky. Yes it was inappropriate.

The dance reminds me of the bible quote “Lord, You have seduced me, and I have been seduced”.

I think it is unseemly for a woman, and particularly a nun, to be writhing on the floor in front of a bunch of men, even though they are clergy

I don’t think the Blessed Mother would do this
