OP: The answer appears to be that dancing within the liturgy is sometimes allowed. It’s hard to say if it was okay in your particular parish or not, however, not knowing more particulars.

My gut would be that no… it isn’t correct behavior.

Your best bet would be to speak to your parish priest perhaps? Share your concerns. Ask if he can explain why this is allowed?

This relates to the Maronite Church and no, so-called “liturgical dancing” of whatsoever form is not licit. Whether it’s “allowed” or not is immaterial. It’s not licit. Trust me.

I’ve no idea how widespread it is, nor have I come across myself, but there are several reasons for that. For one, I’m not Latin and hence not a denizen of Latin churches. For another, when I do attend a Latin church, I am very strictly a Usus Antiquior person, which allows no “dancing” or other such shenanigans. For a third, I would never even consider entering – much less attending Mass in – a Latin church where “youth Masses” or other such touchy-feely things are prevalent. (Of course, it’s more than highly unlikely that such a church would offer the Usus Antiquior anyway, so it’s kind of a moot point.) Now, in the event that I enter a church and am surprised with an “unusual” service, I very simply pick up my cap and walk out, never to return. (This has actually happened to me a few times over the past 40-some years.) And I say that irrespective of whatever country I might be in.
The Yupic exception was in place before Vatican II…

This is what happens when the N/O goes unchecked, it turns into some sort of social event without a strict outline of what can and can’t be done. I attend a TLM and have since V-I. I’ve seen a few decent N/O Mass’s, but then I seen some loosey goosey ones also.

Doesn’t surprize me. Surprized it took so long for B-16 to finally address this last Nov 2011. Yet to manitain a constant now just takes time. I was kinda hoping to see a EF more visable, unfortunate for many this becomes a learned behavior depending where they are as you see, and then the idea of a Traditional worship becomes fought tooth and nail.

Please tell me this is not at St Charbels in punchbowl!
NOWAY!, St Charbel punchbowl is solid in its masses and its teachings whilst (I dont want to name my parish) my parish has been infected by liberals and modernists for the last 20 or more years and only in the last 10 years there has been a gradual decline in liberals at our Church and a huge build up of traditionalists. Such as me, I my self am a strong traditionalist and loves my Syriac heritage that which modernists have tried to destroy and I will figth so that never happens even though I am only a young a teenager.
Oh Saint Pius X PRAY FOR US!

PS: I Personally think our present Patriarch is will be making changes (though not dramatically or any time very soon), I can tell he too does not want our heritage and traditions to be wiped out of our Church like what happened to the Latins.

This “punchbowl” thing has me puzzled, but from the last post I will assume that it’s something or other in Oz with which I am not familiar.

Unfortunately, the situation continues to deteriorate on daily basis. 😦 While it’s true that hope springs eternal, and while I would love to see it happen, I’m not planning on making any wagers. Sadly, the odds are very heavily stacked in the other direction.

I am not of the Maronite Church BUT I was going off the answers that everyone has given the OP in this thread. 🙂 Not on my own opinion. FYI.
