I feel unAmerican when I say this, but I really dislike this show. I don’t like any of the judges. I can’t believe the show is still on the air. Is there anyone else that feels this way?
Granted they work hard to learn their routines and I guess the winner donates the money they win to a favorite charity, but I just don’t understand the appeal of the show.
 
My mom has always watched the show. I think she liked it better when it first started, when more of the dancing reminded her of the old song and dance musicals she loved growing up (she’s almost 90 now). She likes seeing the celebrities too, even though it seems like they have to dig deep into the “b list” of “stars” now to find new contestants. Me, I never watch it.

I don’t get it either.
It’s ok, but there’s lots better things to watch or DO, imho. 🤷
 
glad to know there are others who don’t find it interesting either. 🙂
 
Sometimes if there’s a contestant I like I will watch their routines, but that’s about it. My mom watches it and there is a LOT of “filler” every episode. I also don’t like the judges.
 
I’ve never watched it and never will if I have anything to say about it.
 
I dislike reality shows in general. Bring back family sitcoms. I watch TV to escape reality, not live it. Ugh!
 
I find it amusing the show’s producers and network see fit to call these people ‘stars’.

I wonder how much those judges get paid to jump up and down and write their numbers on the placards. the judges are very annoying and full of themselves!
 
Although I don’t like this show, including the local version, I still feel happy an Australian won it. Congratulations to Bindi.

I saw the last 10 minutes of the final show and Bindi is very inspirational!

I guess, when you think about it, the judges are more important and therefore more star-like than the contestants. They are more likely to be true ‘stars’ than the aspiring dancers (I’m thinking about American Idol here and how Howard Stern was a judge for a time).

Not really. DWTS features judges that are in the dance world and they aren’t as well known as those in the music industry. The celebrities (stars) are non-dancers paired with pros. Only when DWTS has had a sub for one of the regulars is the judge more star-like.

Now with AI, the judges are celebrities and the contestants talented unknowns.

I don’t watch DWTS (not since Anton Apollo Ono won, anyway) so I didn’t see her progress but I saw her freestyle and was impressed. I’m not a dance connoisseur but I thought she danced like a pro. Beautiful extension, graceful, expressive. Just lovely.

Well, DWTS has been on the air for over 10 years now, and it seems to me, the judges have, in that time, become ‘stars’ in their own right (as have many of the ‘pro’ dancers).

I missed Len Goodman this past season – he was over in the UK serving as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing, which is the original show on which DWTS in the U.S. is based. He was always the classiest of the three regular judges, IMO, and I’m glad to hear he will be back next season.
