Namesake - What you just said is an error long ago condemned by the Church. That is a position of many Protestant Churches and the error which they teach is called Consubstantiation. Consubstantiation does not take place during the consecration. Rather the miracle Transubstantiation takes place. This means it looks like and tastes like bread and wine, but bread and wine actually no longer exist. Rather we now have the existence of the fullness of the Body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ under both species, which are no longer bread and wine. This is Catholic Dogma. If you hold to the error of Consubstantiation, I can only conclude you are protestant. If you are Catholic, you have just had Dogma 101.

It’s wine. There is no histological evidence that it is blood. It’s wine.

One such miracle is in Lanciano, Italy, which I have seen. Another is in Los Tecques, Venezuela, which I have also seen. Remember, for those with faith, no proof is necessary. With those of no faith, no proof is enough.

Fox News saw the man take it at the Vatican and carry it on to then be posted for sale at Ebay?

Without documented chain of custody from when the individual host was distributed to when it was put for sale it highly suspect as a FRAUD.

Since the Church allows taking communion either in the hand or on the tongue, that should be enough for you. It doesn’t matter either way. Also it doesn’t matter whether you receive a full host or a microscopic piece–either contains the full body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.

I think that the O.P. is referring to the chance that particles of the Host will be scattered &/or lost when receiving in the hand. Since the **Body of Christ is fully present within the Host & each particle of it, **this is a valid problem. I, personally believe that the indult allowing the reception of the Eucharist in the hand…in diocese where it is in effect… will soon be lifted & we will once again receive Christ on the tongue, only. Judging by the actions of the Pope since his pontificate begun…the punishment of Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado, the document denying ordination to homosexuals & the Motu Proprio…he’s moving swiftly to correct the actions that he considers abuses. God bless him!!!

What a crock. The beginning line of the advertising of the Host said: “I am not a Catholic and do not believe I’m going to hell for selling this collectible.”

I believe our Lord words were – “Take this all of you etc”. He did not say stick out your hand — then pick Me up with the other hand and put Me in your mouth–either.

Catholics believe that Jesus if fully present in each and every particle, or “crumb”. Since it is a reflection of Catholic belief in the presence of Jesus we should take every effort to preserve respect and limit disrespect to our Lord.

Yes, we cannot hurt Jesus, yes people even jeered at Him and nailed Him to a cross. Just because certain things happened or people acted in certain ways doesn’t always mean we should emulate them. We should seek to be perfect and respect God perfectly.

Considering that you can buy hosts at the corner store in some locations, I’d take what the e-bay seller said with a grain of salt.

Shortly before Dad died I found out that any time he’d asked my brother to go to Mass and bring him back Communion (yes, that’s done back where I grew up), brother would go for coffee instead and then swing by his office where he kept some of those ‘corner store hosts’ in his desk and bring one back for Dad. I was very sad that he would do that to Dad. Thankfully I didn’t have to do anything about it since by then Dad was in the hospital and receiving Communion on a regular basis.
