Just had an apt today and its much worse than we thought. We have so much more to discern now. Im now just focusing on keeping my baby alive at all costs. Prayers we both make it through the next few weeks. God bless you all.

Praying for you and your baby.

I would listen to the priests that you have spoken to and who know you. Why come here and second guess them? You have had several tell you the same thing. Your life is at serious risk…please be careful and stay healthy for all your little ones.

Amen. This isn’t a case of one priest giving bad advice, it’s four separate priests. At this time I think OP is more than safe to listen to those 4 priests.

God always provides the grace to avoid sin. Always
I said what I mean. Scripture is true. God will ALWAYS provide a way for us to avoid committing sin. We may not like the way that is provided, it may be uncomfortable and not fun, but, we never have a “choose this sin or that sin” option.

Pope Francis spoke in his opinions, these are opinions we ought prayerfully consider, they are not “ex cathedra” statements.

If by “sin” you mean he will always stop us from engaging in non culpable grave matter then your understanding of both Scripture and Catholic Moral Theology looks mistaken.
Where did I say God will “stop us”? We have free will. God always provides a means to avoid sin. Always. Every time.

Not sure why you are convinced that there are times when committing sin is the only option?

Well, I am rather theologically literate. I’ve asked you to back up (with Catholic doctrine) your assertion that there are times when to commit sin is the only choice.

You reference Pope Francis who speaks of times when people enter into invalid marriages. Those people are not fully culpable of the sin due to ignorance or perhaps they were pressured into the marriage against their will. Once these people become aware of the laws, they are then guided to rectify ie “normalize” the marriage and bring it into accordance with the Church. The Pope’s pastoral approach is not a license to sin.

To turn this to contraception or sterilization, while ignorance would reduce culpability, both contraception and sterilization are intrinsically evil. "In contrast, “every action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible” is intrinsically evil:"

CCC 2730 http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p3s2c2a6.htm

1 4. Therefore We base Our words on the first principles of a human and Christian doctrine of marriage when We are obliged once more to declare that the direct interruption of the generative process already begun and, above all, all direct abortion, even for therapeutic reasons, are to be absolutely excluded as lawful means of regulating the number of children. (14) Equally to be condemned, as the magisterium of the Church has affirmed on many occasions, is direct sterilization, whether of the man or of the woman, whether permanent or temporary. (15)

Similarly excluded is any action which either before, at the moment of, or after sexual intercourse, is specifically intended to prevent procreation—whether as an end or as a means. (16)

Neither is it valid to argue, as a justification for sexual intercourse which is deliberately contraceptive, that a lesser evil is to be preferred to a greater one, or that such intercourse would merge with procreative acts of past and future to form a single entity, and so be qualified by exactly the same moral goodness as these. Though it is true that sometimes it is lawful to tolerate a lesser moral evil in order to avoid a greater evil or in order to promote a greater good," it is never lawful, even for the gravest reasons, to do evil that good may come of it (18)—in other words, to intend directly something which of its very nature contradicts the moral order, and which must therefore be judged unworthy of man, even though the intention is to protect or promote the welfare of an individual, of a family or of society in general. Consequently, it is a serious error to think that a whole married life of otherwise normal relations can justify sexual intercourse which is deliberately contraceptive and so intrinsically wrong.

I don’t have anything to say here except to let you know that I will keep you and your family in my daily rosary tomorrow. God bless you.
