I’m doing the Adventures in Revelation Bible study and have a question about something Jeff Cavins said in the lecture on Revelation chapter one. In talking about the statue in Daniel chapter 2 (with the head of gold, chest and arms of silver, stomach and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron and fired clay), Jeff was relating each body part to a different kingdom. However, I noticed that he actually skipped the feet and labeled the large stone as the fifth kingdom. My reading of Daniel 2:31-45 gives the feet as the fifth kingdom and the large stone as the sixth kingdom that will endure forever.
So if Gold is Babylon
Silver is the Persian empire
Bronze is Greece
Iron is Roman empire
What is the iron and clay mixed together?
The stone is the kingdom of God (the second coming of Christ at the end?)

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Hi Melanie, I would just add a couple points. First, there are only four kingdoms in this prophecy. Daniel even says, “Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom” (v.40). And it was the Roman Empire that was being signified by iron and clay. This is because it was very strong (iron), but also not very united (clay), and in fact it did become a “divided kingdom” (v.41) - the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire.

But after the fourth kingdom comes, then God will set up His Kingdom on earth. And of course, that is precisely what happened! After the Roman Empire had been established, Christ set up His Kingdom, which is the Catholic Church. And the Church did in fact conquer the Roman Empire, as Daniel prophesied (v.44), and rename it the Holy Roman Empire. Now, the Roman Empire has come and gone, but our Lord’s Kingdom will “endure forever” - the Gates of Hell will not prevail! (Matt. 16:18) Hope this helps! God bless.

I agree with Luke65 and would add that the stone is not the second coming of Christ at the end. It is the coming of Christ at his advent and the spread of his Kingdom after that.
