Amen…all accomplished this morning…after not sleeping. Funny how people care when the stakes go up. So sad.
Well, in all fairness, maybe they didn’t really know…Give them a chance.
God bless.

Sadly, the alternative school failed because they lost district funding and the trend here is to now mix different diagnoses into one classroom…let alone one school. When the SCOTUS ruled that parents had to prove districts were not providing a free and appropriate education (FAPE), parents have been losing lawsuits left and right. Our son has a foot in the typical world and a foot in the ASD world. Thus, our near bankrupt district has no services to offer him…he’s too high function. Thank God for granny’s trust fund. Honestly, the money she denied him for services in life are coming in handy now.
When I say alternative, I don’t mean public alternative–I’ve never heard anything good about those programs. What I had in mind was non-traditional private education. (Obviously, some of those are duds, too.)

Yay for granny’s trust fund!

I know you may feel bad about spending it down right now, but this does seem to be crunch time, so I’d spend it with a clear conscience.

We tried an alternative Quaker school. It was a disaster because of strange religious beliefs implemented. The others I checked are for kids with behavior problem. The rest were just too far away from where we lived…over one hour one way ride.

Actually, we want to spend it down because she didn’t trust us to manage it, so they take $5000 to manage it.

We actually hired a mentor/tutor to work with DS during cyber school to boost confidence. She works directly with psych and psychologist.

That dud was in 4th grade where he was physically bullied and had a death threat. But Quakers are so passive, so they only talked it out.

I do appreciate all the prayers and love. Hub and I are all over this. Sadly, one of his childhood buddies is acting like a complete jerk to him now, so he feels deserted. Truly, this kid is acting like a complete jerk. This has not helped.

Bummer!

The principal knew…that’s what hurts.
Oh. You must have been referencing another post.
I was talking about the services through the parish and Diocese.

At any rate. Let it go.
Live in the now…get him help and don’t even give those other people a second thought. It won’t serve either of you well.

I did try to get services through both. The school failed to tell us they fired the county provided one day counselor. The Archdiocese never called me back despite multiple calls…I was warned though.

But we have had him with his mental health team, which is so helpful. In many ways, I need to get over my anger. And soon too!

Son is crushed. I am even more so because I really took these kids (one is 12, one is 13) when they needed help. The 12 y.o. is a quiet, smart kid. The 13 y.o. decided he is beautiful, a chick magnet, but he sadly is quite remedial in school. So, he says really dumb things thinking he is cool but is really annoying.

Seriously, he has ticked off my son many times. If son wanted too, he could really kick his butt…and justifiably so.
