Faith is not separate from reason. I do not find opposition between the two.
Look, intuitive intelligence is knowing what ‘Time’ is without being able to say in words what it means, people simply know what time is and there are even Christians who are aware how the Eternal encompasses temporal existence by the same intuitive affirmation.
Intuitive intelligence lights up reason and gives it direction while reason cannot grasp intuitive intelligence ,to this end,Paul wrote -
"We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the things freely given us by God. And we speak about them not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, describing spiritual realities in spiritual terms. Now the natural person does not accept what pertains to the Spirit of God, for to him it is foolishness, and he cannot understand it, because it is judged spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can judge everything but is not subject to judgment by anyone. For “who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to counsel him?” But we have the mind of Christ. "

The Arian/empirical approach to creation lacks that background faculty which affirms or rejects ideas and proposals based on physical considerations and if Christians sought out their true inspirational heritage they would truly have as many questions as they wished answered for them by that Spirit of God,not satiation of the surface intellect but rather an abiding love of Jesus and creation.
I am very much of the 21st century and very proud of the technological achievements and especially astro-imaging but all this is worthless without proper context insofar as we have now reached a stage where we are saturated with information yet cannot put it into a picture or these silly attempts in trying to cobble something together without the intuitive intelligence to discern whether it is junk or not.
I am also very much within the Christian tradition of my ancestors in these matters when it comes to acquiring the God given gift which lights up reason and is not separate to anything in our existence, least of all science -
That thou mayest have pleasure in everything
seek pleasure in nothing
That thou mayest know everything
seek to know nothing
That thou mayest possess all things
seek to possess nothing
That thou mayest be everything
seek to be nothing.
