Several months ago I asked myself this question:

How is the date of Easter determined? I had always heard this answer:
“Easter Day is the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs next after the vernal equinox”
I had heard this at every RCIA class I have ever attended. Yes I attend on every few years as a refresher, especially if someone new is teaching it. No one RCIA is ever taught the same.

Having knowledge of lunar calendars I knew that the vernal equinox is not always on the same day every year contrary to what your calendar says.

So I googled the “Date of Easter”

The first entry was from the United States Navy. Since I am ex-navy I went there. What I found there was revelation in itself. Here is the link:
After visiting this site, the need to visit any other site became moot.

It turns out the Catholic Church fixed the vernal equinox and by Ecclesiastical Rules established by the Holy Roman Catholic Church.

It’s highly intriguing that the Holy Roman Catholic Church dictates to the rest of the world when Easter is to be celebrated and the United States Government backs this up 100% via the United States Navy!

My question to Protestants:
How do you reconcile this?
Especially since, you are unwittingly accepting the Authority of the Roman Catholic Church when you celebrate Easter on the day everybody else does?

That is a good question for Protestants but remember that the Eastern Churches not in full Communion set their own Easter date that is usually but not always on a different Sunday than the West.

Good point and duly noted. So let me rephrase the question:
How would most non-Eastern Protestants reconcile this?
