I bave been married to my non-catholic wife for twenty two years and going. I tried to marry within my faith, but ran into a small problem. The women in my parish all liked me, but none of them wanted to marry me. They said that when they wanted children, they wanted them to come out “right”. I wear hearing aids in both ears and about eighty percent deaf. That shook me to my core. It also put a dent in my faith, which I still struggle with today. So I had to look outside the church. But as I said, my wife and I been married for 22 year and counting. We also have three healthy boys. Another thing, we could not marry in the church because she was married before.(6 month to a alcaholic wife beater) But I don’t see any problems with marrying a non-catholic. All three boys were baptized catholic.

Once again, it really depends. Your opinion depends solely on the prospective to-be’s to be really into their faith, whilst in the present day this definitely isn’t the case for the majority of people. I would completely agree based on the grounds of common sense not to marry someone who you have a completely different value system to you.

**If you have a Catholic that goes to Church only during Christmas, engages in pre-marital sex, uses contraception, and say a Muslim that’s never been to the Mosque before, never prayed, in other words the liberal end of the spectrum for both of them…that’s not a conflict.

Put some liberal Catholic with a conservative Catholic and you’ll definitely see sparks fly, so should the two Catholics marry despite being ‘Catholic’ - obviously not. It’s all about compatibility and not simply the tit.e
Suspicious Mind.

My husband and I were like your first example when we were married. You cannot say that it’s not a conflict because you don’t know what changes (faithwise) are going to happen.

We did not even think about religion or faith for many years of our marriage( I did take my boys to Easter mass once). But when God called me back to my Catholic faith everything changed. He is agnostic and I am on fire for my faith.

I would advise the op to date Catholics only because it is so hard to not be able to share the most important thing with your spouse, that is the hope for eternal life.
