Expecting a 13 yr old to read those books and listen to a bunch of CDs is unrealistic, IMO.

Can you ask her if she’s praying? Does she have, does she want, a relationship with Jesus Christ?

Confirmation is completion/ strengthening of her baptismal grace. Does she wish she had never been baptized? Does she not believe there is grace involved? That God wants to be close to her and give her grace?
Perhaps, but it depends on the child. I was reading adult apologetic books at about that age. CD’s on topics might actually be a good way to engage a child of that age. (In the car would be a good place to listen, captive audience ;)). Some 13 year olds have just as hard of time knowing how to pray as they do reading a tough book. I would say, she needs something that reframes the faith for her. Her old understanding of the faith is no longer sufficient to carry her, with her crazy teenage brain (and I mean that in the nicest possible way).

I remember I started questioning because I know longer understood those long used platitudes used in Church and religion class. My biggest stumbling block, and the one that made it all click again once I figured it out was “Jesus died for our sins.” I couldn’t understand what that meant or how that worked. So I had to go back to the beginning and relearn about our salvation history. It is just weird how when we become teenagers, things we understood or took for granted as a child, no longer make sense.

The books might be more for mom, if daughter doesn’t want to read. But many of CDs (if not all of them) are actually short (approx 45 mins) and very well done. They will not be over her head. They can be played in the car.

The really question is this: is she open to learning more about the Catholic faith in her faith journey, or is her heart harden & mind closed to the Catholic Faith?

Either way, if daughter won’t listen to CD or read books; they are still good resources for Mom to listen to / read in order to answer questions and teach her daughter

God Bless
