Day 1 of Tridium is Holy Thursday … starts on EVENING of Thursday [per Jewish tradition of days starting at sunset].

Church says this is the time [evening of Thursday to afternoon of Friday] … when passover was celebrated by Christ and disciples, his arrest in Garden, and his trial and crucifixion. How could all of this happened in less than 12 hrs ?

Something isn’t right in this time scenario. Christ went on cross at 9 AM on Good Friday … and died at 3 PM. Are we to believe that between 10 PM on Thursday nite when arrested … that he had Jewish trial & also subsequent appeal before Pilate and Jewish crowd all before 8AM on Good Friday ?

I’m thinking Christ must of celebrated Passover on Wed. nite … had trial on Thursday [when Pilate would be available to hear appeal], was imprisioned for rest of that day … and went to Cross early on Friday @ 9AM.

.
I used the 9 AM time for start of Calvary … per Mark’s Gospel 15:25 However, the other Gospels don’t confirm this start time. They others only mention it being dark between 6th and 9th hours … suggesting perhaps only 3 hrs on cross, with a start at Noon.

Mark clearly says it was 6 hours total time. If Mark is correct … alot got done between hours of 6 - 8 AM on Friday. To Pilate, to Herod, back to Pilate, trial before the Jews in forum, etc.

On 30 March 09…Catholic Answers Live (CAL) had Father Mitch Pacwa on to discuss/answer question on: * The Arrest and Trial of Jesus. *It was terrific…and some of the caller questions touched on what you are asking…the difference in the gospels accounts…calendar discrepancies…the passover meal…Judas receiving Holy Communion…etc. Father Mitch is “the pearl of great value” in this subject area.

Hope this helps…I loved the show and have it on my MP3 player…when I walk my beagles…I love to listen to this show and others like it. Listening to CAL downloads…sure beats having my brain turn to mush listening to all the other junk and noise you are subjected to on most radio stations.

Yes … good source for info. Passover meal on Thurs. nite. Arrest & trial happened in rapid order … a rush job, w/o due processess. Jewish trials were never to happen at nite.

Hebrews typically had passover meal on Friday. That is the day Christ died … becoming our pascal lamb for all eternity.

I have a feeling the whole episode in Gethsemane didn’t necessarily take a long time, since Jesus complained that the Apostles didn’t even wait ‘with me’ for an hour - he mustve been praying for less than an hour then.

As for being up and about early? Absolutely - having lived in a hot climate with no electricity for a time (hence no electric lights to keep you awake late at night and no aircon to make the heat bearable) you do tend to get as much as possible done in the early morning when it’s still cool.

The Gospels don’t agree on a strict chronology. Don’t worry about it.
