Day 11 of 33 Day Journey

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

By God’s Grace, I hope we who are on this journey are growing in our desire for union with God in the perfection of Charity. St. Louis de Montfort guided souls in his lifetime through these stages of growth in holiness by preaching and then by God’s inspiration he wrote the words we read in his treatise on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary”. An online version of the treatise is at the link below as is also a briefer version in “The Secret of Mary” also written by St. Louis.

How Merciful God is in providing us with wisdom from His saints!

Every day we are given opportunities to choose God over satan but during these 33 days we are called to focus more directly on what keeps us from God or to choose less than God – i.e. any empty promise of satan – drawing us closer to the spirit of the world. Let us, please, continue to pray with and for one another to the Holy Spirit and to our Mother Mary that we may remain steadfast in faith on our journey.

Dear hazmat,

Thanks for your reply. I immediately remembered psalm 42

…Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your torrents,
and all your waves and breakers
sweep over me…

It is such a beautiful psalm. In regard to this preliminary period of 12 days in our 33 Day journey it is particularly appropriate because the deep love of God indeed calls to the deepest part of us, the world can be like the sea – tumultuous – yet God permits us to experience trials in order to draw us closer to Himself.

The psalmist in the final verse comes to the truth of God’s love:

…Why are you downcast, my soul,
why do you groan within me?
Wait for God, for I shall again praise him,
my savior and my God.
