Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As we come close to the end of this preliminary period of 12 days, I was noticing how the Mass readings are speaking to us of the “end times”. How appropriate for us to be following the wisdom of the saints, like St. Louis de Montfort who has written of our need to be “emptying ourselves of the spirit of the world which is opposed to the spirit of Jesus”!

Listen to today’s Gospel:
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Beware that your hearts do not become drowsy
from carousing and drunkenness
and the anxieties of daily life,
and that day catch you by surprise like a trap.
For that day will assault everyone
who lives on the face of the earth.
Be vigilant at all times
> and pray that you have the strength
> to escape the tribulations that are imminent
> and to stand before the Son of Man."
Gospel (LK 21:34-36)
Today is also the First Saturday of December. hopefully we will heed our Mother Mary’s request: “keeping me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.” (For more on First Saturday devotions see HERE
Come Holy Spirit, keep us vigilant this day. Fill the hearts of Your faithful, as you filled Mary’s heart. Keep us strong agains the spirit of the world which opposes the spirit of Jesus.

“O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in your servants, in the spirit of Your holiness, in the fullness of Your power, in the perfection of Your ways, in the truth of Your virtues, in the communion of Your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen” (Prayer of Father Olier, founder of the Sulpician Order)

This is the final month of the 100th year anniversary of Fatima if you want to start the five first Saturdays for reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as asked by our Lady of Fatima on It’s 100th YEAR anniversary!

Dear Kei,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I just began another thread on today’s being the First Saturday of December. Advent begins the New Church Year and so if anyone is able to begin their Five First Saturdays’ devotion today it would be a wonderful way to begin Advent and the “new year”. 🙂 see Here

First Saturdays’ devotion can be a way to give Jesus and Mary the attention Fatima’s Message deserves when so many others seem to neglect Mary and her words. Of course it is no surprise when we remember Jesus telling His disciples “If they hated me they will hate you” (cf John 15:18)
