Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Continuing this Wk 1, seeking true knowledge of ourselves, we need to keep remembering: the arms of the father in the story of the “Prodigal Son” were open to embrace his son who “had come to himself” starving and among swine who were eating. When the Holy Spirit answers our prayers, and the prayers of our Mother, that we may have true self-knowledge, we need to keep praying to be open to receive i.e. “to come to ourselves” as the prodigal sons and daughters we are, and go to our Father, saying, “I have sinned.”

Let us humbly admit our faults and failings. Having been clothed again with the robe of grace, and the ring of God’s faithful Love, by His Grace, let us believe more strongly than ever: how Good God is, how tender His Mercy is! Let us continue our journey with hope in Him and in the promise of Jesus that the Holy Spirit will bring us into the complete Truth. Let us listen again to the words of St. Louis de Montfort:
  1. During the first week they should offer up all their prayers and acts of devotion to acquire knowledge of themselves and sorrow for their sins. Let them perform all their actions in a spirit of humility … They will ask our Lord and the Holy Spirit to enlighten them saying, “Lord, that I may see,” or “Lord, let me know myself,” or the “Come, Holy Spirit”. Every day they should say the Litany of the Holy Spirit, with the prayer that follows, as indicated in the first part of this work. They will turn to our Blessed Lady and beg her to obtain for them that great grace which is the foundation of all others, the grace of self-knowledge. For this intention they will say each day the Ave Maris Stella and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin.

Ave Maris Stella - HERE
Litany of the Blessed Virgin - HERE

Help us to see ourselves as we are, the knots in our lives that we must carefully hand over.

Then, come, Holy Spirit, to comfort, strengthen, and teach us to be different.

Dear TableFor9,

Thanks so much for your reply and for your prayers. Yes, how we need to keep Praying, “Lord that I may see!” or “Lord, let me know myself” or “Come Holy Spirit” (as St. Louis De Montfort wrote). By God’s Grace, we can be different – and what a joy; what a comfort; and what a strength we can find in every lesson He teaches!

Mary, Mother of Mercy, Cause of our joy, pray for us.
Our Lady of Light, pray that we may receive the grace of true self-knowledge.
