Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are concluding this first week of our Journey on this Second Sunday of Advent. The Mass Readings encourage us to “Prepare the way” for Christ IS Coming (again)! Advent is a time to remember past, present and future. At Christmas we celebrate His First Coming as well as anticipate His Final Coming in Glory. Yet, do we consider the present, when He comes to us? Receiving Holy Communion today, do we realize how like our Blessed Mother we can be in receiving Him? Do we recognize Him coming in other ways through people or events?

Having received the Sacrament of Confession yesterday, I was mindful of the first chapter in the Letter of James, early this morning:
By the power of the Holy Spirit may we open ourselves to Him, and come into all Truth as Jesus promised (cf Jn 16:13). God willing tomorrow we will seek to understand the spirit of Mary more, but for today, let us thank God together for the graces of this past week and be resolved today not to walk away from what we’ve learned about ourselves, but by God’s Grace, humbly look to Jesus through Mary to give ourselves more completely, to grow more like Him.

I emphasized words I believe the Holy Spirit reminded me of because I was not reading the letter of James but I believe God wanted me to remember those verses because of the many times I did not listen deeply enough and forgot so easily what He had spoken in His Word and I failed to do what I heard. I hope this week has been as much of a blessing to you as it has been for me. Please let us continue to pray for one another on this journey. Let us Listen with the ears of our hearts to His Word as Mary did.
