Day 2 on the journey to total Consecration

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

So sorry to be so late in posting some thoughts on this second day of our preparation journey. For these first 12 days we are praying to “rid ourselves of the spirit of the world”. Now St. Louis de Montfort knew, as we know, that we cannot possibly do this in 12 days, without tremendous grace from God and a tremendous enlarging of our hearts and minds. It will probably take a lifetime to rid ourselves “completely” of the spirit of the world, but we are asked by God’s Grace to recognize how there is a spirit in the world which is opposed to God and we can become influenced by it.

In his first letter, John the Apostle warns the early Christians:

Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, sensual lust, enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious life, is not from the Father but is from the world. Yet the world and its enticement are passing away. But whoever does the will of God remains forever.

St. John and St. Louis know Jesus has warned us we cannot serve two masters. We need to make the choice to serve God, by the power of His Holy Spirit, and not be deceived by the spirit of this world, and spend our lives seeking those things that are passing away.

Please let us pray for one another, for the Church and for all those in most need of God’s Mercy.
Come, Holy Spirit, bring us into ALL Truth.
