Dear Brothers and Sisters,
St. Louis de Montfort wrote in his treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
It has always been interesting to me that the Servant of God Frank Duff read De Montfort’s book at the suggestion of a friend, but it was not until after several readings of it that one day, he realized it was true. It seems to me pure grace received by this earnest Catholic layman, who then consecrated himself totally and was led to found the Legion of Mary. He, like St. John Paul II, said that reading “True Devotion” was a turning point in his life.
So I begin this week with great joy that Mary has been given to all of us as Mother, and I look to the Holy Spirit to teach me more about her and continue His work in all of us to conform us, as He did her, more and more to the Image of Jesus. Today is Tuesday and so I’ll be praying and pondering the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary. Looking on the Suffering Jesus with Mary, may we give ourselves more totally to Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit may we offer ourselves with Jesus and Mary to our Father.

As I shared with you previously, Week 1 seems most difficult for me, but Week 2 is the easiest. How I love to look at our Mother and see how she reflects the Trinity! There is much in the little treatise which St. Louis de Montfort wrote which can help us to know Mary better. De Montfort was steeped in Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium of the Church, and so he “rings true” and his book has become a classic in Catholic spiritual literature.
