Day 21 - (Seeking knowledge of Mary)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As we continue this beautiful week of seeking to know our Mother Mary better, perhaps you have read more from St. Louis De Montfort’s True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin as he suggested:

1. Each day of the second week they should endeavour in all their prayers and works to acquire an understanding of the Blessed Virgin and ask the Holy Spirit for this grace. They may read and meditate upon what we have already said about her. They should recite daily the Litany of the Holy Spirit and the Ave Maris Stella as during the first week. In addition they will say at least five decades of the Rosary for greater understanding of Mary.

Yesterday, I tried to meditate on Mary’s union with Jesus in the Sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary. Today, before I pray the Glorious Mysteries, I want to ponder again De Montfort’s words on Mary’s relationship with the Trinity:

1. God the Father willed that she should perform no miracle during her life, at least no public one, although he had given her the power to do so. God the Son willed that she should speak very little although he had imparted his wisdom to her.

Even though Mary was his faithful spouse, God the Holy Spirit willed that his apostles and evangelists should say very little about her and then only as much as was necessary to make Jesus known.

How true it is that Mary our Mother is the most faithful of all the disciples of her Son, and like Him is so meek and humble of heart! The spirit of the world seeks to exalt itself, but Mary seeks only to exult in God her Savior. She rejoices in Him and rejoices to be His “handmaid” (which can also be translated “slave”).

Let us continue to pray to the Holy Spirit for the grace we need to know our Mother better, that by His power we may become more like her and like Jesus, for the Glory of the Triune God. Litany of the Holy Spirit HERE Ave Maris Stella HERE

Mother of Divine Grace, pray for us! I especially pray that I may be more humble and willing to serve others according to God’s Will. I commend as well to Mary’s powerful intercession those who are burned out in the course of their duties for the faith (altar servers, heads of religious organizations, etc.).

Thanks for your reply and your continuing prayers. How very much we all need to grow in humility which brings with it that willingness to serve others! I appreciated your prayers for those who may feel “burned-out” and commend all into the care of our Loving Father and the tender arms of Mary our Mother.

We all need to be careful when it comes to “doing more” than is truly willed by God, for our own good and the good of others. The Lord told Martha she was busy and anxious about “many things” when only one was necessary. It is important for us to pray to the Holy Spirit for Wisdom and all His Gifts to be operative in us to bring forth true fruitfulness for God’s Glory and the building up of the Body of Christ in love.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your love which burns out our impurities but does not consume our Life in You.

Mary, our Mother may we see in your human example on earth, how to work as you did, in union with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Help us learn from Jesus: His yoke is easy and His burden is light. (cf Mt. 11: 30)
