Day 33 - ( Last day in Preparation) Feast of the Holy Cross

Brothers and sisters:
Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

How appropriate to come to the end of our 33 day journey on this Feast of the Holy Cross! How providential in the last days both in the Mass Readings for yesterday and today to hear from Scripture and see by Faith our calling to take up our own Cross to follow Jesus in love. That is truly the purpose in taking up this True Devotion to Jesus through Mary and Consecrating (or re-consecrating) ourselves totally tomorrow on the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Mary stood at the Cross and gave herself with Jesus on Calvary. Mary is both our Mother and Model as disciples. May we spend today learning from Jesus and Mary how God loves, and by the power of His Holy Spirit commit ourselves again to be totally His through Mary.

Thanks for this! It took me quite some time to reflect and pray about you post. This is what struck me most:

Mary stood at the Cross and gave herself with Jesus on Calvary. Mary is both our Mother and Model as disciples. May we spend today learning from Jesus and Mary how God loves, and by the power of His Holy Spirit commit ourselves again to be totally His through Mary.

Lord, help us to accept the crosses we must bear! May we unite them with Your Passion and the sorrows of Your Mother!

Thanks for your reply and for your prayerful companionship on the journey. A holy priest once told me, “More saints are made by praying before the crucifix than by many other practices”. I believe there is wisdom in his words but we can’t forget Mary standing there with John, for Jesus desires us to be there with Mary as John was. It is part of the Mystery of God’s Love that we see our vocation to holiness fulfilled in Mary our Mother and those who stand with her, keeping our eyes on Jesus.
