Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It seems to me the “desert-time” of Lent is especially suitable for this journey. It enables us to renew, by God’s Grace, the focus of our lives toward our eternal home. God calls us into the perfection of charity while we travel and He gives us all we need when we ask, seek and knock on the door of His Heart.

During these preliminary 12 days of “ridding ourselves of the world” we need to ask with faith, in His Love for us, with Hope – confident hope-- in His Word that we “be Holy as He is Holy” and to ask especially that His Spirit of Love fill us as He shows us what is the spirit of the world yet within us. He has given us Mary as Mother and Model to help us.

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks for both your replies above. Mary our Queen and Mother is truly the model of one “summoned” and gifted with the purity of heart to see by faith, the timeless Face of Peace Who stands certain, and is home for us all – her Son, our Brother Jesus, The Word made Flesh. She is the Mother of Mercy for us all, His Mercy flowing through her.

May the Holy Spirit overshadow each of us in unique ways that we may become as she was on this earth – in the world but not “of the world”. May we hear with the ears of the heart the urging of the Holy Spirit to rid ourselves of whatever opposes Him, that we may share His Peace and Mercy with others as she did.
