Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The half-way mark on the 12 days, St. Louis de Montfort described as a “preliminary period” in the 33 Day Journey to Total Consecration, passed yesterday. Today is Day 7. The Number 7 is significant. We have 7 petitions in the Lord’s Prayer, St. Teresa of Avila wrote of 7 mansions, there are 7 sacraments and 7 days of Creation to name a few “gifts” from God signifying a certain “fullness”.
May God give us “fullness” of His Grace to learn about “emptying ourselves of the spirit of the world which is opposed to the Spirit of Christ”. God created us for more than we can hope for or imagine, but He reveals Himself to us in stages of spiritual growth. Saints experienced these stages and grew in holiness just as we are all called to that Holiness God calls us to in His Word: “Be holy, as I am Holy” (Leviticus 11:44 and 1 Peter1:16)
God calls us in Love. and offers all we need to “Work out our salvation in fear and trembling” (Phil 2:12).
He does not call us to a “servile” fear, but to a “filial” fear which a loving child has for a Loving Father. “Filial Fear” is good fear and is the beginning of Godly Wisdom. Fear of the Lord is given as a Gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism.
Listening to Scripture, prayerfully, as indeed St. Louis de Montfort listened, and listening to Saints and the Magisterium of the Church through centuries, we being to hear by God’s Grace more of His Truth, which the Father and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to bring us into. In John’s Gospel, we hear Jesus say to his disciples:

By God’s Grace, let us prayerfully ask the Holy Spirit to teach us God’s Truth to discern the spirit of the world, and its lies. Let us pray also that our Mother Mary come to our aid as Mother and Model for the Church. St. Louis de Montfort, St. Joseph, and all the Holy Angels and Saints pray for us. Jesus we trust in You!"…But now I am going to the One who sent Me, and not one of you asks Me, ‘Where are you going? But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts. But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. And when He comes He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation: sin, because they do not believe in Me; righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned.
“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when He comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but He will speak what He hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine; for this reason I told you that He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you…" (Jn 16: 5-15)
