Dear Brothers and Sisters,
How Good God is! Each Sunday He invites us, as His family, to the “Supper of the Lamb”. Today, at Mass we receive both the Bread of His Word and the Bread and Wine become His Body and Blood. We will hear in the First Reading, about the “Burning Bush” (EX 3:1-8A, 13-15). How providential since we have been discussing (in another thread on this Forum) the icon of Mary standing in the midst of the Burning Bush – signifying her great privilege as the Immaculate Conception! I was struck in re-reading the account in Exodus and remembering Mary’s apparition at Lourdes by the similarity in God’s answer to Moses and Mary’s answer to St. Bernadette when God and Mary were asked their “identity”.
Moses asked God:
How wisely, St. Louis de Monfort calls the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary, a perfect renewal of our Baptism. By giving ourselves to Jesus through Mary we say our “Yes” with Mary to the holiness to which we are called by our Father, in Jesus by the power of His Holy Spirit. These 12 preliminary days of ridding ourselves of the spirit of the world enable us to see with the eyes of our hearts Who we are and Whose we are. Today as we gather at the Table of the Lord to receive the Resurrected Body and Blood of Jesus, let us rejoice in Him as Mary does! Let us ask Him to purify our hearts and make us humble. May Mary’s Immaculate Heart united to His Sacred Heart triumph in us!
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

When Bernadette asked Our Lady who she was, Mary replied: “I am the Immaculate Conception”. Mary’s union with God began at the first moment of her existence. She is truly an icon of the Church called in Baptism, to begin a life of union with God. As we continue our journey of 33 Days toward our Total Consecration (for the first time or for renewal), by God’s Grace, let us keep the words of Jesus in our hearts and minds, “Behold your Mother”. Let us obey His words as the Apostle John did and take Mary into our lives. In her we see all we are called to be “in the world BUT not of it”. The spirit of the world today continues to oppose God and so we seek to rid ourselves of that spirit, by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament passage, Moses was told to remove his sandals to stand on Holy Ground. In the New Testament Jesus tells us to repent or perish. It is important for us to choose God and not sin; to choose life and not death.
