Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I love Saturdays! They are days especially dedicated to Mary by many of us, and this fills me with joy. Why? Mary gives all to God – our love for her, our praise – anything we offer to her to honor her, she immediately gives to God the Author of all good. As St. Louis de Montfort wrote, "When we say ‘Mary’, she says ‘God’. To love Mary, to honor her is to honor God Who did such great things in her. To give her our hearts is to give them to Jesus most perfectly, for she is forever united to His Holy Spirit, to Him her Son, and to our Father.

Today is the 9th day of our journey toward total consecration or re-consecration. On this Saturday in Lent, let us behold our Mother at the foot of Jesus’ Cross. He did not shield her from sorrow, but shared with her all the pain He endured so she might be one with Him for our sake. How can we look upon those two pierced Hearts without loving them more? How can we not be willing to endure whatever God permits in our lives, for love of them? When we look at the choice between God and the empty promises of satan, why to do we even hesitate to choose God?

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful, kindle in us the Fire of Your Love! Mary, Star to guide us on the troubled seas of this world, pray for us.

Dear 808 Catholic,

Thanks, so much! How good it is to know you’re walking with us on this consecration journey! It is a blessing to have St. Louis de Montfort with us, helping us by his prayers and words given him by the Holy Spirit.

The Lenten season is a particularly appropriate time to prepare for renewal of our Baptismal Promises, through Mary. Please let us continue to pray with and for one another – as one grows we all grow in holiness – building up the Body in love. (Ephesians 4: 15 - 16)

Building on her unshakable faith, Mary trusted in God as no human had ever done before or since. Our boundless confidence in God is an essential part of our imitation of Mary.
She never wavered in her confidence that Christ would overcome the bodily death inflicted by His enemies. Since the first century, Saturday has been commemorated as Mary’s Day. She alone among the followers of Christ was absolutely sure, during the first Holy Saturday, that there would be an Easter Sunday.
During the fifteen years that Mary remained on earth after her Son’s Ascension, she saw the young Church persecuted, rejected and martyred. It was part of God’s providence that she should literally mother the infant Mystical Body of Christ by strengthening the early Christians as they shared in the Passion of her Son.
How we need this Marian inspiration today! We are living in the Age of Martyrs with millions dying for their Christian faith, more than ever in the Church’s 2000 years of history. Bishops and priests, religious and the laity, the married and the single, the young and the old must either practice something of the heroic trust in God that Mary had or become further casualties in the Christless cultures of the 20th Century.

Dear Brother,

Thanks for your reply and for the excerpt from Fr. Hardon’s great article. Fr. Hardon did not live to see the horror of ISIS and the terrible persecutions of our own current culture, but he knew the evil he did see. Let us continue on our journey toward the perfect renewal of our baptismal promises, trusting God will give us all we need to stand firm in our faith as Mary stood beneath His Cross.
