Day of Prayer and Fasting For Terri Schiavo

I posted this on another forum, but it didn’t seem to get much response, so I thought I’d try it on this one.

I would like to call everyone to a day of prayer and fasting for Terri Schiavo on Monday, February 21st. There is a strong possibility that her feeding tube could be removed as early as Tuesday, February 22nd.

So please, everyone who feels compelled to do so, let’s all get together and pray and fast for Terri Schiavo. Let’s pray that the courts will respect her life and leave her feeding tube in, and that her husband will see that Terri’s life is worthy of respect and leave her alone and let her family take care of her.

I have yet to hear a clearly enunciated explanation from the husband as to why he is willing to take on the media and special interest protester storm that is about to hit him instead of just getting a divorce and letting Terri’s family care for her. He has clearly moved on with his life. I have heard his attorney claim that ending her life such as it is would have been Terri’s wish. Is that the basis for his action?

That’s what the husband is saying, but, according to Terri’s family, they believe he has alterior motives for ending her life. Terri’s father was on “The World Over Live” last night and explained that they believe there was some physical abuse going on during the marriage. Terri’s husband has never done an interview, so nobody can quite figure out why he won’t divorce her and let her parents and family take care of her.

They did show some videos of her last night during the show, and anyone who says that she’s in a vegetative state is out of their minds! The Schiavos were even told that if Terri was given 6-12 months of speech therapy, she’d be able to speak again. But Terri’s husband won’t let them do it. I don’t know what’s going on in this guy’s head, but he definately needs our prayers as much as Terri and her family do.

I know that they will encore “The World Over Live” on Sundays at 5pm Eastern. It was a very informative show. If you didn’t catch it the first time, I’d encourage you to watch it when it encores.

I will offer my daily mass for her. The mass is the highest form of prayer.

I think fasting for Terri is a great idea. I’ll do this Monday.

This is both outrageous and scary to me; if this husband gets away with what sounds like court assisted cold-blooded murder, how many more euthanasias will be committed throughout the land? Would it start an avalance like Roe vs Wade?

I’ve got permission from leaders at my parish to put out an announcement suggesting that the parishoners call their US Senators and Representatives to get something going nationally.

Also, a call to the local Archbishop might help.

I’ll be praying. I watched the program on EWTN and just felt so sorry for her and her family.

I seem to recall something about a life insurance policy. Maybe he is splitting it with the judge who over turned Governor Bush.

Yeah those wacky neurologists!

A lot of people would rather die than stay hooked up on life support machines. Was Terry Schiavo one of them? No idea. I don’t know her, nor I suspect does anyone posting here. Her parents want her body kept alive but they may be acting against what her wishes were out of a parent’s love for a child. Maybe her husband has some sinister motive but I can’t imagine what it would be. I have a hard time believing that her life insurance is worth more than 10 years of legal fees.

You need to either watch or listen to “The World Over Live” that was on last Friday evening. There’s a link to it on this thread. They show videos of Terri. She is far from being in a vegetative state. She is awake and alert. She even talks, it’s just that people can’t understand what she’s saying. Her parents were told that if Terri was given speech therapy she’d be able to be understood within 6 months to a year. That’s not someone in a vegetative state, either.

She has brain damage, yes, but so do many other people in this country and they are allowed to live their lives. She’s nowhere close to just lying in a bed, doing nothing all day, though.

According to doctors she has random motor activity which you are interpreting as intentional. The reason no one can understand her speech is that there’s nothing to understand, it’s random firing of nerves, not an attempt to communicate. Again just going off the doctor’s findings.
Her parents were told that if Terri was given speech therapy she’d be able to be understood within 6 months to a year. That’s not someone in a vegetative state, either.

Not just the husband’s doctors, the court appointed doctors reached the same conclusion that she’s in a persistant vegetative state.
They came on their own and came to the conclusion that she is not in a persistent vegitative state.

I have to wonder as to how impartial they are. Who are these professionals that volunteered to give a medical opinion for free based on a videotape of a patient?

The court is using this case who’s name is Terri to open up euthanasia:mad: Tlaloc you came here for an agenda period,your attitude about Terri has shown this all along,you certainly did not enter this thread to fast and pray,so I do not buy it.Shame on you:tsktsk:
