The court is using this case who’s name is Terri to open up euthanasia:mad:
Oregon already has a Death with Dignity law so not really, no.
Tlaloc you came here for an agenda period, your attitude about Terri has shown this all along,
Anyone who disagrees with you on an issue has an agenda? That’s pretty narrowminded, Lisa. Do you honestly believe that nobody could possibly reach any other conclusion than the ones you have?
You certainly did not enter this thread to fast and pray,so I do not buy it.Shame on you:tsktsk:
Since you posted only to try to shame me I’d say your as guilty as I am on that score, Lisa. Is attacking another poster a form of prayer or fasting?

I had a daughter who needed a feeding tube. She was not brain damaged, but she didn’t have a complete esophagus. It took a few years for her to have surgery for a complete swallowing tube using part of her intestines for the missing esophagus.

Many docs would probably have told her birth mother to abort her – if they had had an ultrasound performed.

Claire, our daughter, was a wonderful little girl. She lived for seven years and I am forever the better person for having been her mother.

A g-tube — or feeding tube – is the lowest tech medical device I know of. It doesn’t require sterile procedure – average dinner plate clean is how I put it. I washed my hands – just like I do before having a meal.

I think that anyone who can milk on cereal or cream into coffee can feed a person with feeding tube.

I could even change her tubes when needed. It was like getting new shoes to her – even though they all looked the same.

All that Terri Schiavo needs is to have food given to her this way - no ventilator or other assisted breathing help. Heck, I know kids who need more help than Terri and are just as worthy of life as she is.

Claire, pray for Terri!

Lord have mercy on us all.

Oregon allows the patient to choose, which is still a shame it is nice fluffed up description of suicide and the law itself implies if your sick your worthless.Tlaloc if anyone goes to your post they will recognise your agenda they do not have to take my word for it.I have been praying for Terri in fact I started a thread in the news about it,of course I came in here and who do I find:confused: Tlaloc the one who said on another thread you really don’t care what happens to Terri. So are you now going to pray for her with the rest of us Tlaloc?

Starving to death is hardly “death with dignity.” If we let a cold blooded serial killer starve to death it would be cruel and unusual punishment. Many people are dependent on others to feed them: like babies for example. The late Christopher Reeves was dependent to be fed. No one wanted to kill that guy, but they did want to create and destroy life to heal him.

They want to kill her because she’s supposedly brain dead. But if she’s brain dead, she’s not suffering so what’s being hurt by keeping her alive and letting her parents support her financially? Everybody wins, no? Something’s fishy with this husband. He’s still married to her yet he’s carrying on another romance. If he really loved his wife he wouldn’t be having an affair while she is incapacitated.

Owning your own life hardly makes you worthless, in fact it means you have greater value than denying suicide, and hence saying you belong to the state.
Tlaloc if anyone goes to your post they will recognise your agenda they do not have to take my word for it.
Then we’re agreed that you don’t need to be posting about my alleged “agenda.”
So are you now going to pray for her with the rest of us Tlaloc?
Since I don’t believe in prayer what would be the point?

Oregon’s law doesn’t involve starving to death but the adminstration of lethal drugs. Hence why Ashcroft attempted to block it through the FDA.

You seem to imply that someone wants to kill Terry Schiavo when the question is whether she wanted to die under such circumstances.
They want to kill her because she’s supposedly brain dead. But if she’s brain dead, she’s not suffering so what’s being hurt by keeping her alive and letting her parents support her financially? Everybody wins, no?
No. A number of people have living wills. Actually my father has one, I keep a copy of it so that in case he gets into such a situation I have proof of what his wishes are. Obviously some people would rather die than be kept alive as a vegetable. Whether Terry was one of them neither of us can say.
Something’s fishy with this husband. He’s still married to her yet he’s carrying on another romance. If he really loved his wife he wouldn’t be having an affair while she is incapacitated.
She’s been brain dead for well over a decade. I think that far exceeds any grieving requirement. The fact that her husk is being kept alive doesn’t mean anything of the woman he married is in there.
I read somewhere about some $2million settlement she received (I think on another thread). Is this true? If it is and the husband divorced her before she died he wouldn’t get all of it. Sounds like there’s his motivation to kill her.
Except that if I recall correctly that money is already gone to medical bills.

Number one we belong to God,that is the ultimate dignaty, number two,you are upset because your agenda was revealed, number three since you don’t believe in prayer why did you come to the prayer thread?I am going to pray for Terri and you.

Well, we can’t say for sure whether she wanted to die or not. I think we should err on the side of life. Isn’t that just common sense?

Many disagree with you. I have no interest in belonging to either state or church, thank you.
,number two,you are upset because your agenda was revealed,
Curses! Foiled again by Lisa’s revealing of my agenda! I know, I’ll tie her to the train tracks to rid myself of her meddlesome ways. Just as soon as I twirl my handlebar moustache and laugh maniacally, Mua-Mua-Mou-hahahahahahaha!

Are we done with melodrama now?

I read a thread about the subject. Anyone wanting to just know about the pray and fast aspect can by reading just the first post. Anyone who wants to actually talk about the issue can by reading on and replying. I fail to see where your sense that a massive injustice has been done comes from

It really isn’t an issue of common sense, but law.

Since I am the starter of this thread, I have the right to say this. You have hijacked this thread and turned it into something I didn’t want. I started it to encourage others to prayer and fasting for Terri Schiavo. So, if you can’t stay within the intention of the thread, I’d appreciate it if you’d start your own thread. There, you can talk about whatever you want. But here, on my thread, we’re here to talk about praying and fasting for Terri. Since you have stated that you don’t believe in either, you really have nothing to say here.

The law does determine who has power of attourney for Terry and hence who can determine if the feeding tube keeping her body alive can be removed after he brain is gone.

Excuse Me! Are you ignorant, or just plain rude? That is not what this thread is about. You wanna debate the issues, go start your own thread!

I’m sorry you feel that way, but in all honesty any thread is subject to “thread drift.” You made your statement about Terry Schiavo’s case. What more is there to say about the original topic after that than a chorus of “me too’s”? Given that the thread hasn’t even wandered off of the topic of Terry just off the issue of praying/fasting I’d say you have little room to complain.

Lastly I have to assume you are singling me out because you disagree with my position. Afterall I was not the one who started these discussions, other posters had already wandered off the original topic by the time I joined in. Why exactly aren’t you castigating them?

I believe there was one other poster who has asked a question in an attempt to understand the situation better. You haven’t asked anything that you didn’t already have an opinion on. You weren’t here to gain knowledge, but to start trouble.

Second, I can complain about anything I want. I don’t see what your problem is with starting your own thread, except that you’re trying to start controversy.

In light of all this, I’ve realized that, by answering you, I’m going against my own desire for this thread. That being said, I refuse to answer or even acknowledge any more of your posts. And I encourage others to do the same.
