I applaud you for realizing that something is missing. It could be that what you are feeling is the action of the Holy Spirit. Here is what I would recommend:
Read the Gospels while asking yourself these questions: What is Jesus telling me to do? What does Jesus say is essential to following Him? Jesus is amongst us right now, where will I find Him?
If you sincerely do that, I think you will find what is missing, although the answers may not be what you want to hear.
