I can’t think of any, although I haven’t watched too many soaps.
I think there is some male appeal for Downton Abbey, which is a bit like a soap. It features some strong male characters like the lord of the manor and his son in law Matthew Crawley. Unfortunately season 4 doesn’t come on until January 2014 for the US and this fall for England, but Amazon.com has all episodes.
On PBS Sunday nights there is Mr. Selfridge, which is about an American man who started a dept. store in early 1900s London. That also features some strong male characters.
There is one I like on Irish TV (RTE). It’s called Ros Na Run. Be forewarned it is in Gaelic with subtitles and it can be seen on your PC if you dont get the station
Daytime soaps naturally wouldn’t have a large male audience. Primetime soaps can. Downtown Abbey is the best contemporary example. I would consider Mad Men a soap. In the past there was Dallas.
If the definition of “soap opera” is drama about the trials and tribulations of a family, then “Walking Dead” might qualify, but again, that’s not daytime.
