Of course they won’t have a referendum because they know what the result will be.

It’s a bit ironic actually that they will condemn the Church in the loudest voice they can for not allowing people to “vote” or “change” anything, and then they’ll go and override what they know the people will say because they just want to force their unholy views down our throats. I guess only the secularists are allowed to do that because they’re more “enlightened” then us who refuse to compromise on the Truth.

That wasn’t conjecture but a declarative statement based on knowledge of the law. Just take a look at what’s going on in Canada or Massachusetts.

The implication here is that the DC archdiocese will legally have to provide benefits to the spouses of their gay employees.

Here’s how we got to this point:
A few months ago, the archdiocese made a statement that they could not morally do so, and would have to shut down their philanthropic operations within the city. The bill passed anyway. This referendum was the last chance to stop it from going into effect.
