Hey all,

Now that I’m a fully initiated Catholic, I have an intense desire [EDIT: I forgot to make clear, this desire is less intense than I had for receiving the Eucharist for the first time, but not much less; still much more than anything else in my life!] to go through the de Montfort consecration to Jesus through Mary. I heard of it back in December, before I ever entered RCIA, and it was very appealing. But of course, I knew I had to wait until I was officially Catholic, not merely by way of faith and conviction. Now, I’ve had the books for months, I got the commemorative bracelet just yesterday, and I read it’s best to wait until the 33 days lines up to conclude with a Marian feast day. The closest date I could start this, then, would be the 28th of this month.

I realize it isn’t a long time to wait. But now that I’m able, and I’ll actually have the sacraments to help me, I wonder. Those of you who have completed this consecration and/or those of you who know well about it, would it be alright to start tonight or tomorrow with the retreat as opposed to waiting till Sunday? What are your thoughts?

If you start now and double up 2 days you can end on May 24 which is the feast of Mary, Help of Christians on the Salesian calendar.

You can start it any day you wish. If it were me, I’d just wait the three days to end on the Visitation. But it’s up to you. It’s not like it only “works” if you end on a marian feast day.

Thanks for that link! I’ve been looking for comprehensive lists of Marian days and that’s got even more dates in it than anything I’ve found so far.
